Yeah, the real reason the gates are there is to force the conductors to be more diligent about checking tickets on inbound trains (as well as rendering it superfluous on the outbound side), since it’ll be super obvious if they don’t and they’ll have some ‘splainin to do. Riders pay for it with their sanity since it makes the whole process more obnoxious/less convenient as well as ruining the floor plan/foot traffic flow through North Station, but my 1A pass says what’s up.

I suspect the confusion stems from people thinking we’re saying “salt and pepper bridge” with a Boston accent. Those towers contain exactly what they’re supposed to - that is to say they’re hollow, for acoustic amplification purposes, and they carry a reverberating rendition of “Push It!” every time a broken-down train is moved across the Salt-N-Pepa Bridge.

There is a specific process when it comes to witholding rent that must be followed in order for it to work in your favor; otherwise it’ll simply count as non-payment of rent and more or less wind up shooting yourselves in the foot, giving the landlord everything they need to legally evict you and whoever else refrains from paying.

Generally you will need some documentation to show that this is not your first resort for the problem, demonstrating that you have attempted to communicate with the landlord about these issues multiple times and that they haven’t held up their end of things.

It needs to be communicated in advance that you will be withholding rent along with the specific reasons for your grievances, as well as the resolutions you are seeking, so that there is a course of action specified within a certain timeframe that they could take to prevent the withholding from being necessary.

Then, if they still don’t fix the issues, and you have ample documentation to prove they’ve not been holding up their end of the lease, call inspectional to back you up and confirm what’s going wrong on record. If that’s still not enough to light a fire under the LL’s ass, you can put the rent money in escrow, showing you have the funds and intend to pay once the problems are fixed.

Do note, I am not a legal expert, nor are most others here, and I’d strongly recommend speaking to one if you plan on going through with actually withholding rent, since that’s pretty much the nuclear option when it comes to your relationship with the landlord, and could very easily backfire if you don’t get all the details just right.

There are sensible solutions to this problem. By 2060 we could have every bus and train operated by a clone of Frank Ogelsby - with a Charlie card chip brain implant to ensure loyalty - who simply performs all of the announcements manually, thereby leading to a flawless rendition every time.

Just uhh… make sure keep an eye on bus 66.

In addition to what others have mentioned, there’s also the 134 bus that (sometimes) serves north Woburn out of Wellington, though it doesn’t connect to Anderson but rather Winchester Center, which is out of commission until further notice. There’s an express bus out of Anderson that goes to Logan airport, as well as Flight Line service to Manchester airport.

Burlington has some limited LRTA bus service that goes from the mall/Lahey area to the commuter rail station/LRTA hub in Lowell, in addition to another line that goes to the 3A/62 intersection/concurrence. Both routes go through Billerica, so you could consider living there as well (or even Lowell proper). The Lexington Lexpress has a route that connects to the mall area as well. Burlington used to have its own little bus system called the B-Line but I’m not sure if it’s defunct by this point.

To put things in to perspective, getting from Wilmington center to Burlington Mall takes approximately 7-10 minutes by car, while the LRTA trip takes 2 hours and 45 minutes from the moment you get on the first bus. Good luck!

Surprisingly, yes. But also no. It largely depends on who (if anyone) finds it first and what they decide to do with it.

Call the number on their website for the Green Line lost & found a couple of times over the next few days - it might take some time for the train to finish its run, the item to be noticed, and make its way in to the lost & found, especially over the weekend. It might not be until the trains are given a once-over cleaning after hours unless someone turns it in.

If they don’t have it by the end of Monday though it’s as good as gone, unless someone finds it independently and somehow gets it back to you - who knows, maybe Reddit will come through.
