Kids will like the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. All Smithsonian museums around the National Mall are open on New Years, so enjoy.

So many choices: Georgetown, DuPont Circle, Logan Circle, Kalorama, Capitol Hill, etc. Anywhere there is Federal style architecture, which there is an abundance of. DC is just a beautiful city.

I like Cleveland Park. Nice neighborhood with some restaurants, groceries, Metro access, and close to Rock Creek Park, which is the best park ever.
