This. A fan behind it to circulate the air will make the difference. Also, keep in mind that electrically powered heating is just not cheap.

Funny you mention, that’s on my list of gripes too. The ‘laptop’ sleeve on the back, it only fits like an iPad tablet and even the 11” chrome book I have is too large and it doesn’t zip around it. Also I noticed too much of anything on the front zippers and it makes the whole front main flap super heavy and unwieldy. It’s not really an easy access bag in that sense but I do like how it packs when totally fully. Definitely hope they fixed those issues.

Second the Klean Kanteen motion. I’m loyal to this brand for liquid containers.

Exactly. This fact has been largely overlooked.

Reply to Tips for extending life of my Boots by InncnceDstryr
I swear by Leather Honey (easily found on Amazon) to prolong the life of leather boots. It makes a huge difference.
Also, keeping them relatively dry on the inside. I know some people are recommending a boot dryer but I just place mine in front of a box fan overnight when it’s been a long day and that seems to be enough.

Air King has done me right. I’ve beat the thing up pretty good. I went through a few other brands including the standard store brand Home Depot ones and finally opted for an Air King and it’s been solid. However their design and look is more industrial.

If you google for this topic and tag Reddit at the end of your search you’ll find a fair amount of other threads on refrigerators… From what I recall GE took a huge quality hit once the company sold. The old ones were BIFL and the new ones are cheapened and inconsistent. I remember deep diving into this topic back in 2020 and opting for a Whirlpool.

I have a friend who does heavy work and swears by these. I’ve seen him wearing them and they look solid but I’ve never tried them myself.

When I was doing commercial brewery work I lived in my Carhartt’s. I like the double fronted rip stop design. I’d get almost a year out of a pair washing them DAILY when I’d get home from work. I was around all sorts of gnarly chemicals, metal that could snag, and pocket fulls of parts and tools. My only issue with them is the black color fades a little quickly. I would go back to them for sure. They could very well work for surveying too.

Came here to say my Osprey 40L Farpoint has served me well traveling through 7 countries living out of it for up to 6 weeks at a time. It’s the maximum you can fit into an airplane carry on without bending the rules. I’ve packed it to the brim and it really holds up. It is not designed as a day pack at all though. I am 5’11 and 210lb male and at capacity I can handle it fine but it might be too much for someone built smaller.

Have a local metal shop weld a piece of rectangular stock then tape the end as a handle.
