I think for most people hearing gunfire on their walk home at night would make them feel uncomfortable

It’s pretty close. And hearing gunfire on your walk home would be very likely.

The James would not be convenient to public transit at all. You would pretty much rely on the shuttle that they or VCU provides.
If you choose to walk from The James to the library, it's ~30 minutes. Also you would pass "Gilpin Court" which is a very sketch neighborhood that you might feel uncomfortable walking by--especially at night.

I would recommend Ascend over The James if you don't plan on having a car.
If you have a car, The James is a fine apartment building and conveniently located within a short drive to most things you'll want.
If you don't have a car, Ascend is a convenient walk away from Monroe Park Campus, a grocery store, and the only good mass transit line in the city.

Probably does't want it to up in move in 20 years.
I'm sure Lego picked VA for manufacturing specifically because they don't want a union.

Do you know if the Lego plant is unionized?

They reduced the workforce for the facility in 2008 by 180 workers.
They are opening a new facility in Pittsylvania County with 400 workers, 300 less than the current facility.

Because suspensions often disproportionately impact specific demographics, so there is a big push to mitigate that disparity by suspending less.

That's functionally what keeping the historic cemetery is.

I should have read the article, huh. It housing Maggie Walker certainly warrants more consideration.
I'd rather see that as a monument though. I think it would be better to exhume her and put her on Monument Ave or where AP Hill was, with a corresponding monument.

The groups that would hire union groups vs non-union groups generally prefer non-union groups to have better performance.
Primary source, as you say.

In Europe being buried in a cemetery is falling out of fashion.
Even for when it is, it is often the case they exhume old bodies to bury new ones.
What is the point of permanent graves?

Sounds like you're getting your info about unions from unions.

How so? The entire executive team hasn't been able to collectively get a lot of things that would make the schools better.
Unionization would make it more difficult to fire poor performers though.

Why don't we just pay them more rather than unionize them?
Unionization generally creates a lot of red tape for removing people for poor performance.

Cemeteries are stupid.
Permanent cemeteries are a weird American thing.
The living need housing more than the dead. The land would be better used for housing.

It’s far enough that many people that live in Ashland have an hour round trip commute to the city if they’re not immediately on the highway.

Because the Northside school is just standard unflattering architecture with no historical significance or value. Parents there would be fighting for a new school than repairing it because at least they would get a more modern design.

You never hear it in the near west end or Windsor Farms.
You can live in the fan for a year and easily never hear gunfire.
Saying that gunfire is similar in gilpin as the fan is as laughably inaccurate as saying income is similar in the two places.
I’ve been here for over a decade and never heard gunfire in the fan.
