Their non-coffee drinks are great too! They do tea lattes, herbal drinks, lemonade, etc. And I will say that it's been a year since I went and the prices are exactly how I remember (because I remember complaining to my friend about paying $12 for a little breakfast burrito and then calling her back to be like "nvm I'm magically full")

I would go more if parking wasn't an issue

New Wave Kitchen is insanely good and their sourcing is top notch. Certified organic pork from Wild Harmony Farm, mushrooms from High Tide Mushroom Farm, veggies from Luckyfoot Ranch, eggs from Cedar Valley Farm, kombucha from Fully Rooted, etc. Not insanely expensive, surprisingly.

The chef at Newport Vineyards is also brilliant so that's also a great experience with local sourcing.

And +1 for Matunuck Oyster Bar

Their quality & sourcing has been going downhill for a long while. Community-owned co-ops usually are to make it easier and/or more affordable to get local and/or organic food.

The local selection tends to be inconsistent and many times I'll see non-local products when I can buy from a local farm for the same price or less.

Prices aren't great. I can get Narragansett Creamery and Wright's Dairy Farm cheaper at numerous other places (and it's easy enough to get those products at Farm Fresh on Saturdays).

The long-time GM, John Santos, left and any semblance of quality went with him. I'm not sure who took his place.

Add in accusations of discrimination against LGBTQ+ employees.

Member-owners tend to just opt for the life-time option so it's not like they have a steady stream of membership dues. Sales are down overall because of the previous bullet points I mentioned so they can't really afford to restock, especially on fresh product.

Oh and there's nothing the community can really do because the bylaws really limit the powers that board members & member-owners have. Member-owners can vote in board member elections + volunteer for events. Board members can communicate concerns or requests to the GM but the GM has the ultimate authority when it comes to sourcing decisions and store promotions.

Highest quality: Fearless Fish. The cuts he sources are just gorgeous. This is 100% the place to go for sushi-grade, no contest.

Best value: Tony's Seafood (but their selection is super limited because they just closed for renovation. They do offer delivery though, which is a plus!)

The one that got me into seafood: Local Catch (super tasty and good quality just more expensive than Tony's. They're also super friendly and offer home delivery as well.)

These are the main three where the quality is consistent + are the most convenient. There are plenty of others that are solid. There are also plenty to avoid so I'd stick to the ones everyone has recommended in this thread.

Are you down for... -Messed Up Monday -Tuesday Boozeday -Wasted Wednesday -Thirsty Thursday You know that we can have it all

But no. Say goodbye to Monkeyboys and Cafe Iced Tea and accept that Penn State is a magical place that can't be replicated. I feel like the main reason I'm mostly sober now is because it just doesn't compare to the good ol' days.

That being said, Camp Nowhere in North Prov has $3.50 drinks and food. Skip the $12 fishbowl, it's mostly ice.

The only Sunday one is in Tiverton. It has some cool vendors so worth a visit sometime.

Providence Flea (Sundays and sometimes Fridays) is fun but no farms. Nice mix of artists, vintage and other food businesses.

The Farm Fresh one on Saturdays is super competitive to get into so that's THE farmers market. Only downsides: it can get really crowded + there are some big businesses in there masquerading as small operations. i.e. Great Harvest Baking Co is a franchise and Seven Stars is HUGE now so I buy my bread from Provençal

If you can free up a Wednesday night, the Pawtucket Indoor Farmers Market is small but mighty. There's a microgreens vendor that cuts microgreens to order so you can build a custom blend. Born From Pain is usually there. Gluten-friendly baked goods that are phenomenal. Really good mushrooms from friendly folks. I even got empanadas last week from The Perfect Empanada that were really good.

Many of the shops open too (including PVDPies) and there are some fun non-food vendors too like Spoon & Board and a vintage dealer.
