Most passengers at the airport don't want to use these taxis anymore, which is why they are being moved. These drivers have earned their reputation of being incredibly abusive to customers. The city should worry about increasing train frequency from the airport, it would better serve the public. Currently, trains are only running hourly from PHL on Saturdays and Sundays, and only every 30 mins on weekdays. That's pretty embarrassing.

The garbage guys are pretty awesome when it comes to picking up doggy doo-doo bags in my neighborhood. Three different times now when I've been out walking my pup, they've seen me with a poop bag and offered to take it off my hands.

Mark Squilla's office acts like I'm the only person in town that complains to him about obstructed sidewalks. Then tries to convince me that he's powerless to do anything.
Also what happened to the proposal to increase the fine to $300 for parking on the sidewalk? It had some type of preliminary approval the last time I heard about it.
We need a citizen reporting app for these violations, allowing citizens to collect a bounty.

That's interesting. I'm still very skeptical though, because the only time I hear about people that live in Philly travelling to KOP to do shopping, is when I read an article or reddit thread on the topic of the new rail line. I don't know any friend or coworker that does their shopping by travelling to suburbs. Everyone orders online. I've lived in Philadelphia for 7 years. I've never been to KOP to my knowledge, and doubt I'd ever want to go there ever in my lifetime.
And I've never heard anyone describe KOP as a tourist draw before. Tourists from where? I'm really curious because most people have never heard of KOP unless you're from this region.

I'm might be confused. The idea is that a mall is going to attract high demand for Philadelphians to travel to KOP on the railroad? That's absurd. Malls are going extinct. I would never leave Philadelphia to go to a suburb for the sake of a shopping mall.

I think that's the sentiment for most socialists or independents that were willing to compromise and support him. It's also pathetic that he's basically like any pro war democrat , bragging about voting to spend 100 billion of tax payer dollars on Nazis in the most corrupt country in Europe.
He stabbed a huge amount of his supporters in the back. The only people still crazy for him are Social Democrat.

If you are very activist minded, there are things that can be done on a small scale and get quite a bit of attention. Like, getting like 5 people together that have loud voices, and bombarding the Mayor or Council members when they hold speaking functions. One person records, and one after the other activists take turns confronting the politician and interrupting them. When everyone goes in with courage and good talking points, your video has the potential to get a lot of publicity.
Or on a truly revolutionary scale, organize a town hall where a new city charter is drafted and the Mayor and Council are dismissed.

You would have to organize a take over of the BCGP and overhaul it top-to-bottom. Those people's number one goal is to pat politicians on the back for doing jack shit. I'd recommend starting a different organization with the mission of fostering direct action.

You are absolutely correct. I have brought up these exact points many times to these people. And they HATE hearing it. The bicycle coalition is not friendly to folks who want to protest or pressure politicians. The same with 5th Street, which is really just a PAC run by a man raising money to benefit the interests of private developers. These people will shut you out of their org if you challenge their lack of vision and urgency.

Sadly there isn't a single politician that's supportive of modernizing streets to improve pedestrian and cycling conditions.

We all need to do something more in order to prevent people getting maimed or killed. If there were people out there organizing a sit-in at city hall or at politicians door steps, or wanting to record people bombarding the Mayor or Council everytime they have a public speaking engagement-- I would eagerly participate.

Action is not being impeded by one lone individual, Clarke. Gym, Squilla, Kenney... Name any one of them, and they don't give a fuck. Guarantee you people like Gym are going to mention it while they run campaigns, but they don't have to do anything once their position is secured -- they know that citizens here will never hold them accountable after the election is over. For them, your job is to be a good little voter. And the inevitable continuation of deaths on the streets? Well that's collateral damage.

Absolute nonsense. 5th Street is just a pac, specializing in sloganeering and fundraising for Jon Greetings own private real-estate interests.
I'm talking about real grassroots political pressure and organizing. Politicians shouldn't even be allowed to speak in public without being heckled about all these dead people.

The fact is, American society is quite comfortable and conditioned with a surprising amount of daily pedestrian carnage. This is by design, with murderous infrastructure, and zero enforcement.
There isn't a single person or group in Philadelphia that is serious about stopping this.

Clog lines? I have not experienced long wait times for many months. This is how the police and every politician tell you how they want you to handle it. You can even text 911 instead. In addition , as the police are concerned, I've been told by Captain of 19125 PPD the department had no staffing issues and plenty of cars to send out to respond to parking complaints, but keeping in mind parking is the lowest priority. Words directly from the source.

I think that could be very helpful -- Most illegal parking in pedestrian areas goes unreported, because everyone living here is so confused how ticketing actually works.

For years, I've talked to the police, council, and Congress rep. When I've talked to my neighborhood's police captain at the PPD, He assures me they will ticket when you call them. Not always the case. But I have a success rate of over 50% reporting it to the dispatcher and having a cop write a ticket. The captain advised that if after reporting the vehicle to 911 dispatch, and no one arrives to write a ticket, I should then call the local PPD and ask for the supervisor to make a Lack Of Service Complaint. That second call has always guaranteed an officer to arrive shortly and issue the ticket. So if I really want to insist that someone get a ticket, I make the second call to the local station.
But the PPD admittedly will not patrol parking and enforce it, they will ONLY write a ticket if a complaint is made to 911.
So if this is happening on your block frequently, you may need to become the local enforcer by constantly making the complaints. And the regular offenders will be ticketed and eventually learn to find proper parking spots. If you don't care to spend that much time and energy on it, I'm afraid city leadership is uninterested in tackling the issue.
As far as party politicians, the only solution a councilman or congressman will give you is "organize permit parking on your block." This will activate regular PPA patrol and enforcement for the block.
They should allow citizens to report illegal parking via app/online and collect bounties from the tickets because I would be making a killing.
