Sport runs a bit deeper than just sport in Italy. There are a lot of political/social affiliations with certain teams. Probably related to that in some way.

To try and relate it to America, imagine if when Portland plays Dallas a portion of Dallas's fanbase travels to Portland together and are affiliated with Qanon or some ring wing group and they travel to Portland not just to support their team, but to antagonize members of Portlands supporter groups who are affiliated with antifa.

Luckily we do not have this in the US, but this is the state of soccer in Italy.

On the one hand I don't think it's fair to punish people based on where they're born. On the other hand it seems the majority of Russian athletes are in support of Putin's genocide of Ukraine, or are being used for Russian propaganda. I honestly don't know what to think about the issue. Curious to hear from those with strong opinions on the issue?

We get it, Qatar bad. But not every single accident needs to be made into something sinister for headlines.

Same thing just happened with Grant Wahl and it turned out he had an aneurysm. Nobody backtracking on all the conspiracy theories there, everyone just moves on because they don't actually care. Just dragging people's names through the mud for drama.

This type of shit is just ammo for dumb internet arguments for republicans. If you're voting for the likes of Trump, Herschel Walker, MTG or any of the other Republican loonies and misfits of which there are hundreds in politics now, nothing's going to change their mind.

The figures they're referencing are from credible sources like Nielsen, Barb etc who gather data on television viewing habits around the world. They obviously left out Germany in this little blurb as it isn't one of the examples with record viewership. However Germany is a blip on the radar in the grand scheme of things. Less than 1% of the worlds population lives there.
