Not sure if this is related, but all federal agencies have zip codes that do not align with their physical location. This is because the mail goes to an off-site screening facility to be irradiated for anthrax (and I assume other things) before it is delivered.

Thanks for sharing the article. I’ve known the general rule for a long time, but the article cleared up something that had always seemed to contradict the rule:

Only “streets” are subject to the convention. Avenues, roads, drives, and other minor streets do not conform to the alphabetical progression. “Places,” on the other hand, usually appear one block north of the correspondingly lettered street and often share the same first letter.

So now I understand why Quincy Place and Todd Place are in eckington, which is covered by the first alphabet.

Keep calling the cops. Escalate. File a complaint for lack of action. Contact your ANC. Contact your councilperson. Contact local news media.

What I would not do is DIY it, put this person’s identity out there [let’s hope you get it right and aren’t putting an innocent person on blast], and wait to see what the consequences are.

I didn’t call you an asshole. However, I also don’t like the idea of either you personally confronting this man, or your inciting others to do so. You have already said that there is likely to be an altercation because everyone in your building is on edge. Sounds like you want to take the altercation to him rather than waiting on him to come back to your building.

Visit Chicago in the late spring or summer only. Fall may be fine, but the year I lived there it was winter for 3/4 of the year and I’m only exaggerating a little bit.

Philly is close enough to hop on a train (or a bus if you must) and do a quick weekend trip. Any of the others I would save for a long weekend at minimum, just because you’re spending longer getting there. Once you’ve been to NYC a few times, you can do it for a shorter weekend or even a very long day trip (I have done this, though I don’t actually recommend it).

Sure, if you can get a whole cat colony. But a single cat against the rat colonies we have going in DC? The cat isn’t going to want to go near it. Rats coming out of the woodwork following construction in our alley sent the alley cat packing.
