Yup. The questions I get from people when I tell them I live in Baltimore you'd think I'm dodging bullets on the daily, but hey that's the reason I was able to get a house for half the price of other east coast cities so whatever man let the rumors fly lol

I remember when I first moved to Baltimore and was planning to take the subway to work, and like a fool I looked up the schedule and trusted it

In general, HYSA rates can change on a dime, so looking at the current highest rates is only marginally useful. You want to look at who consistently has high rates which tend to be places like Ally or Discover. It is not uncommon for other less well known banks to bump up their interest rates temporarily to get new customers, then drop them back down. So in that sense it usually makes more sense to go with a bank with high enough interest rates that you like, rather than the bank with highest raw interest rate.
>Also, I understand that in February there may be a interest rate hike so I will keep my ears open for that as well.
The Federal Reserve is almost certainly going to raise the Federal Funds rate by 0.25 percentage points in February, but this is not the rate you get on savings account. In all likelihood this rate hike is already "priced in" to the rates you're seeing.

Improved public transportation infrastructure and improved public school performance would have immense effects for the city. Every young couple I've known that has moved out of the city wanted to stay for the lifestyle but felt they had to because of schools, and the larger an area people are able to travel in a given amount of time means a larger area people are able to look for jobs, and a better chance of increasing their income.

Can't believe no one has suggested Red Emma's yet. Awesome place, awesome food, and calling them "LGBTQ friendly" feels weird because of how much of an understatement that is

I haven't been yet this year but Cylburn Arboretum is probably beautiful right now, The Pagoda in Patterson Park gives very nice vibes this time of year. Mt. Vernon in general is just awesome in fall, go to the Walter's Art Museum then grab a hot drink at Doobie's and hang out in the monument park, at night hit up Topside, if their side room is open go hang out in there. Unfortunately most of my favorite cozy bars closed during covid, but Frazier's on the avenue in Hampden is still a favorite, and Hampden in general is also beautiful in fall. Also if you like diners you absolutely have to go to Tamber's near Johns Hopkins. A classic American style diner that also serves a full menu of Indian food.
If you want to have a weird time, give Mount Royal Tavern a try. Just a heads up though, it's cash only and you're likely to see some form of pornography, but it's a local classic

I'm just mad the Lunchbox apparently closed. Yeah it was kind of gross and sometimes the waitress completely forgot about me but you could get a whole breakfast for like five bucks
