When Costco came to East Lyme CT the traffic impact was enormous. Costco has relatively short business hours, so there's always a rush in and out. The small roads were not prepared for the influx. Cops are there constantly directing traffic if there's a backup. Granted it doesn't take much to back up 95. They recently acquired more space to add additional lanes...kinda like the 95 access ramps to TF Green.

I'd compare the fine print of both contracts.

Looks like Goodsam says "unlimited towing to the Nearest service facility". Which could mean they'll tow you to whatever garage is closest.

The comparably priced AAA plan gets me 100 miles to anywhere. And in RI 100 miles gets you to any mechanic in the State. I ended up using this like 4 times in as many months when we had a lemon Volvo. They towed us all over RI and CT, side of the road to my house, to the dealership, to a random mechanics house in the boonies...no questions asked.

Living due south of Bradley, west of Quonset I see/hear military traffic several days a week. Fighters, cargo planes, black hawks, Chinooks. Pretty sure the fighters use the lake as a land mark, hear lots of pairs heading north to south change direction.

They always have something going on. Drills drills drills

You nailed it with the 1970s analogy, but not in the way you think. It's hard to get into on purpose because the people there aren't great with change. Notice no Starbucks?....guess who owns local coffee shops (rhymes with "down tonsilmen")

They outlawed food trucks during their boom a few years ago because another tonsilmen owned an ice cream shop and didnt want competition.

We used to joke it was the "Westerly Shore" after the Jersey Shore show because that Italian American bravado was so hardcore in the summer. I worked at the Beach a lot of summers, things get weird.

Definitely some good people and outliers. The locals have a hard exterior because the town transforms into a tourist trap every summer and totally changes. People from actual Jersey and NY summering there tend to wear local patience thin come Labor Day.

It's been a thing for a while. 30ish years ago they showed us a video of a young kid chasing a dropped item under the bus and the driver not seeing them and getting squished. Based on a few real occurrences in the news. The message was, don't be that kid. The district had monitors on the elementary buses but not upper grades.

I totally see your point and agree, but I think to some people the excitement of the competition is why it IS like watching sports. They've been paying attention all race...the way you'd watch a sports game beginning to end to see how the winner got there.

Personally I think there's fun in checking all the scores on Sportscenter as opposed to just the one game you watched.
