Cool, glad you finally realized there's no Russian analogy to US swatting.

k. So now you're stuck defending the idea that there's a legitimate Russian analogy to the very American phenomenon of 'swatting'... Please elaborate on that with examples.

Sure, but that would require some pretty specific and sophisticated espionage per instance in Russia.
In the US gamers can just randomly buy swatting services against strangers with no more than a target address.

A Russian could fake being an informant but then they're on the same authoritarian radar as the people they're fake informing on. You can't just anonymously dial it up like in the US.

Too bad Russia doesn't have the US's easily manipulated SWAT teams providing public dial-a-hit services. Ukrainian hackers swatting Russians would be an interesting new front.

And if NASA contracts a company to develop a system you think the IP for that system should belong to the company?

I guess if you don't consider paying for services yet to be developed as funding research, then yeah- I suppose that didn't happen.

A functional analogy would be if you accepted government funding to research and develop a new construction process that you'd then patent.

Why does it matter what subsidies we give the petroleum industry as long as they put gas in stations for us to buy?

I am disappointed in myself for not coming up with a good moonshot-shotwell connection. Seems like an easy win but I just can't find it.

We paid to develop those services, but ownership of the results of all that development are privately held.

I'm not a c suite expert and not all c titles are equivalent between companies/industries, but as I understand it Shotwell is responsible for ensuring revenue, development, and production goals are on track. She hires and manages engineering project managers, and sets realistic expectations and sources for income to support those projects.

Any battery can ignite a fire but that isn't really comparable to a lithium ion battery fire. Addressing issues with EVs is how we make them safer, maybe knock off the pre-accusation of 'anti-EV' sentiment.

Anywhere you can readily build infrastructure on the ground it will be less expensive and more scalable than satellite service. Satellites will be excellent for extending coverage and providing redundancy, but packets origins and destination are always on the ground so there will always be a premium for sending them through orbital infrastructure.
There are underserved areas where Amazon's delivery infrastructure might present opportunities to build out wired and area wifi services to the surrounding community. I'm not thinking they would or anything, it would be a slower and lower return investment than trying to compete for the satellite market because there are plenty of people who don't have to care about the premium.

Seems like Amazon would be in a better position to roll out a ground based ISP to markets where satellite service has fewer advantages.
