The owner died over year ago. It's owned by two former employees.

Homewood Cemetery has Pie Taynor, baseball player whose number was retired by the Pirates. It's a short distance from Errol Garner's grave. Somewhere in there is John Heinz too, senator killed in a helicopter accident. There are a few unusual markers there, there's a strange carved stone sculpture near the front entrance.

Pastolie's Pizza in Squirrel Hill has a vegan pizza option. Haven't had it myself, but a vegan friend I know enjoys it.

It's a missed opportunity, but from decades ago. It could have been converted into a public market the way Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, Milwaukee, etc etc have. I'm happy the building isn't sitting empty any longer, but it's essentially been turned into a mall.

What about Frankensteins, Herschel? WHAT ABOUT FRANKENSTEINS?

(Don't go nerdy on me, I know it's the Frankenstein monster. A piece of fiction, rather like werewolves and vampires.)

I know of multiple complaints in that respect, but I've never had any issues with any of them. Understand that the sarcasm meter can really spike with the workers if you're obnoxious. I've also seen them tolerate some egregiously stupid people, so you just never know who you're behind in line that day. You can ask basic questions, just don't behave like an idiot and you'll be fine.

Get the grilled half fish. (Unless you only want filets, it's on the bone.) Couldn't get much better.

Short answer:
Jerry's Records
The Attic (these should be your first two choices, the Attic will definitely be better for metal)
Eide's (If you're here as late as Wednesday, they have a significant sale starting then)
Government Center
Fungus Book and Records
Long Play Cafe
The Exchange (multiple outlets, Monroeville being the biggest I think)
