Ask your travel agent about Portland, Maine. It is a quintessentially cute New England town on the Atlantic Ocean, not the Long Island Sound which is literally brown murky water.
You can fly into Boston, spend a night or two there, and then take a bus or train 2.5hrs to Portland. Recommend in the summer. It’s very walkable, has great restaurants and bars and breweries, beach, water stuff (fishing and whaling tours, ferry to small islands, etc), museums, etc. It’s a popular local tourist destination, most of Nee England coastline is. I don’t think it’s a popular international destination.

This is all accurate, BUT require a car. OP stated they need Ubers. To do a fraction of what you describe, without a car, requires very specific itinerary planning.

You know, it’s fascinating to think of that period as just 100-year-old real estate developers. I associate “developer” as a modern, faceless, capitalist entity with no interest other than money. 100 years ago, they were doing the same! I’d argue with a lot more intent, neighborhoods were built with cohesive intent and aesthetics, but the concept is the same. Everything was just farms or pasture, and it all had to be sold to a developer at some point.

I live within a 7min walk from a ton of places I order delivery from all the time lol. I have a free DD membership so it doesn’t cost much more, and I figure the drivers are glad to have an ezpz pickup.

They will definitely help. The plastic shrink wrap + heavy curtains should help add ~6 degrees, and as silly as it sounds, sealing the drafts prevents “wind chill” which also improves how cold you feel.

Well that’s exactly it. They seem so far removed from the pulse that they had no idea people weren’t riled up. They really don’t understand.

I was downtown Friday night, and it was eerie af. There was barely anyone out, and the streets were filled with crews boarding up windows and stationed cops in riot gear with motorcycles & cruisers every couple blocks. There even was a pair of officers coming in to do a lap in the quiet, half empty bar I was in. Clearly there was the expectation of 2020-esque protest.
It made me question if I’ve gotten jaded or desensitized to these kinds of awful events. I felt like I wasn’t the person I thought I was, because I found myself thinking “they were fired, they were arrested, and this is just getting started.” I didn’t have that fire inside me that drives me to get out on the streets, ya know?
Now, the entire unit has been disbanded. Exactly what I’d called for during other protests of injustice. So while I’m very sad for the man and his family, still waiting to see what else unfolds, I still am not expecting to hit the streets tonight.
I guess I’m feeling a bit validated that there weren’t mass protests, and think that maybe there is nuance to these situations that is widely understood. It’s not just an outrage machine we were all running, like a lot of murdering-cop sympathizers make a narrative about.

I’m surprised you aren’t finding any. Something to keep an eye out for, if an ad specifically says “tenant pays gas”, there’s a good chance it’s a gas stove. Two places I’ve lived were “tenants pay gas,” which was like $12/mo because it was only for the stove (gas heat was included in rent).
You should also be able to tell from pictures… gas stoves will not have a smooth flat glass top.

From Merrimack Valley, park at Wonderland and take the blue line in. It’s $7/day, and $2/day on weekends.

The guy responsible for a bunch of these last year, if his 60 day hold didn’t get extended, it expired some time earlier this month. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/boston/news/peeping-tom-arrest-brighton-boston-police-oqueli-pascual-hernadez/
Is there any way to look up the status of this case?

What do you mean by condo? Everywhere I’ve lived in triple-deckers or multi-unit buildings are technically condos.

Yeah, I was checking out some specific condos. Had to use Google street view to “walk” and see that… nope, this sidewalk ends for no reason and you can’t actually walk to the plaza that’s .6mi away because it’s a 4 lane road with no shoulder. 😤

Definitely. I’m sure some things will be better… but tbh I haven’t thought of a single one since I already do car rentals when I need/want to. For me, when I move I’ll be spending about $250/mo more on a car than I do now on rentals/T/Uber. While completely losing walking and public transit perks.

I have my sights set on finding somewhere that at least something is walkable. Like, yeah it’s probably one coffee shop and one restaurant and maybe one shop if I’m lucky. Won’t compare to the density of options I have here. But having some kind of little plaza to walk to would be a big leg up from none.

I think the driving will wear on me. It seems so silly and like a logistical even trade (T vs car), but it does have daily impact.
