That's a super interesting point, and I think it's an important one.
As an idiot on the interweebs, I think the opposing argument might be something like this:
Researchers, like everyone else, have a limited amount of time and energy. If they focus their resources heavily on the specialized knowledge and advancing the field, they can push the limits farther, faster, increasing the sphere of knowledge; others can follow behind and find ways to share the knowledge and make it more accessible.

It's Wing In Ground; I think it's because ground effect does happen when a regular plane flies close to a surface, but this craft is designed so that it's optimized specifically to keep the wing in the ground effect, or at least that's how I think of it.
International Maritime Organization
Wiki
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground-effect_vehicle
I'm in Ontario, Canada. We have a lock system with a lot of shipping from the Atlantic, and the Great Lakes. My thought is that it might be possible to use WIG in specific narrowly defined use cases: a large cargo WIG drone could in theory move goods faster and more efficiently than cargo ships; it would be slower than a regular plane but again, much more efficient because the engine doesn't need to provide any lift.
I live fairly near to an airport on the lake, and I have some bushland up North fairly near to another airport on a lake. I was wondering if I were to build a drone or a ship, and I kept it under 400 ft at all times and 95% of the time within say a wingspan or two of the surface of the water, if I'd piss off the air traffic controllers. I wouldn't fly anywhere near the airport from my perspective. I think you answered my question!
I do think if I built it, it would need a maritime transponder of some kind but I have to look into that; in either case, both airports would be accustomed to regular maritime traffic, I expect this would be no different from their perspective, but I was a little bit concerned about the potential of upsetting the military.
Thanks

I'm interested in a vehicle technology called WIG(Wing in Ground) or GEV(Ground Effect Vehicle).
These craft come in different form factors. I really like the look of the reverse delta. It looks a lot like a seaplane, but the wings are shaped a little bit differently. Instead of being shaped to provide lift like a regular plane, they are shaped to force the air underneath the craft, when the craft is over a flat surface this creates a bubble of air underneath it. It "floats" on this bubble of air like an air hockey puck. It's similar to a hover craft, except a hover craft is designed so that the engine itself forces the air under the hover craft. With a WIG, usually the engine placement means that the majority of the time the engine is providing thrust to move the craft forward, not create lift. The actual shape of the craft forces the air underneath; this is not flying according to the technical or legal definition of flight. As such, a pilots license is not technically or legally required in most jurisdictions; it's licensed as a power boat.
So I guess the question is: would regular air traffic control detect a craft like a WIG travelling just above the surface of the water?

My suspicion is that the silicone will shrink a tiny bit as it dries and pull away from the tile. It might depend on the type of silicone used. I'd keep a very close eye on it, you might have to rip it out and do it over.
I did see a neat trick recently: the guy duct taped a spoon to the tube of silicone, so the spoon trailed the nozzle. So as he went along and squeezed the silicone out, the spoon was taped in a position such that it was following along and removing any unnecessary silicone, leaving behind a clean line of sealant.

I was a member of a sub that was discussing how to spot sock puppets and bots on Reddit, so you could have some sort of plugin that would tag them with detailed information.
It turns out that if you spend time seriously digging into a project like that, you start getting death threats. There are a lot of people who want to be able to deploy sock puppets.
Naturally, I myself am a bot.

Take both parts of the latch off.
Screw a longer section of wood vertically to the wall with long screws, ideally you can get that into the stud if not use some construction glue to help.
Cut a small section of this wood the same thickness and put it on the door, under the catch, and mount the latch to the wood on the wall. Both of them are reinforced, and moved the same amount away from the wall/door

I'll have them shut off the cameras first, and have the guards take a nap just to be sure no one sees me taking the drugs and falling into a coma.

I'd just use styrofoam and seal with spray foam. Maybe consider wrapping the new PVC pipe with a bit of pipe insulation on the inside for a foot or two, for the reason that if cold air comes into the pipe and starts going inside, you are probably likely to see condensation forming on the pipe, where it goes through the screen and inside where the pipe is colder than the air.
I'd also consider some kind of one way valve or flap on the outside of the pipe to keep cold air from flowing into the basement. You'll have to be a little careful to check that the flap is never impeded and it's always working and free to open

You can buy a chair made in a factory, or you can buy a chair custom made from a local carpenter; you just pay more for it. There's still a desire for the human touch, the craftsmanship and people are willing to pay more for it.
I mean you can grow your own food, buy it from a factory farm, or buy it from a local hobby farmer.
You can use a horse and buggy, walk, or drive

That might be possible, but all digestive symptoms disappeared pretty much completely within two weeks of a low histamine diet.
My diet does not appear to be FODMAP although there might be a little bit of overlap.
I find ginger super helpful, I drink ginger tea, put ginger in my food, add ginger powder to my soup, if I think I might get a migraine sometimes I'll take Gravol ginger extract. It naturally contains quercetin which is an antihistamine. Some studies suggest ginger can be as effective as some antihistamines for allergies

TLDR: low histamine diet reduces bad bacteria that generate histamine over time
Purely anecdotal: I appreciate that I am allowed to describe my experience under this comment. I also appreciate that my experience has very low value as evidence on this sub, and that is how it should be.
I was reading the r/covidlonghaulers group since the beginning of the pandemic, and I noticed that a sub group of long haulers had symptoms which matched my own. As the months rolled by, it became apparent that many of these people concluded that Covid had caused them to become histamine intolerant. I realized that many viruses can result in acquired histamine intolerance. I'm alcohol intolerant, and I knew that cheddar (aged) cheese was a trigger; these are both signs of potential histamine intolerance (I can eat mozzarella as it's not aged). So I switched to a very strict low histamine diet, and my IBS symptoms were cured within about two weeks.
For around two decades prior I had frequent bloating, diarrhea, constipation alternating with diahrea, nausea, and an increasingly strong feeling of gastroparesis.
After switching diets, Very very slowly many of my other symptoms improved; my dry itchy skin slowly normalized. My tense muscles felt more naturally relaxed; prior to that nothing worked except chemical muscle relaxers. My constant nausea and constant headache slowly improved; I had less migraines. I've had chronic migraine for around a quarter century; I found migraines lessening in frequency, becoming less severe; I was able to reduce my migraine mediction. Without medication, my chronic frequent migraines included: light, sounds and smell hypersensitivity, blinding pain, severe vomiting, partial temporary blindiness (rarely, with scintillating scotoma), followed by mild euphoria and then a deep sleep for 12 hours. I found my quality of sleep improved; I have more energy; my muscles are not always kind of sore anymore. and so on. I've reached out to schedule an appointment with an immunologist but I've been waiting months, it will probably take another few months, hopefully they can shed more light.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histamine_intolerance#Symptoms
This is an unlikely problem to have. All other possibilities should be ruled out first. If you can drink red wine, you're not histamine intolerant.
Estimates of levels of histamine intolerance in the population range from around 1-3%.
My experience with the medical system was very frustrating because my goal in interactions with the medical system was always to seek out root cause of migraines, as this was how my problems started. In almost 5 decades of interaction with the medical system, I could not appear to find a single medical practitioner who could figure out root cause; in fact, most were unwilling to have a conversation about it. They would say things like: "Well these are your symptoms, and statistically this is the best medication for those symptoms."
From my perspective, it has always seemed as if I had a nerve somehow trapped or constricted in my neck, which somehow triggered muscle tension and migraine. This was not something that any doctor seemed interested in discussing or pursuing, although there are some US doctors (I'm in Canada) who offer a nerve operation which I think maybe removes some muscle or material surrounding a section of the nerve, my neurologists opined that this was snake oil.
My understanding has evolved; I think it could be that HI induces muscle tension; over a lifetime this can have a result of a kind of constant low grade traction or pressure on the neck and spine, which can cause some constant pressure on the discs or compression. It could be that this compression results in some kind of interference with the nerves that run through the neck and traps into the body or arm but this is all purely speculation and conjecture on my part.
My body was actually telling me that what I was eating, was poison for me. The healthier I ate, the sicker I got.
Peas, spinach, tomatoes, soybeans, beans, tofu, avocado, bananas, home made sauerkraut, kefirs, kombucha, vinegar I was eating all of the healthy foods, but these are all super extremely high in histamine, so the healthier I ate, the sicker I got.
Intense exercise also raises histamine levels, so the harder I exercised, the sicker I got.
I stopped eating foods high in histamine around six months ago. In that time I've lowered my migraine meds, had less migraines, and dropped 20 pounds. It turns out I'm not such a fat guy after all: histamine intolerance causes tissues to swell and retain water, and I was bloated all the time with a massive gut, so I looked morbidly obese; I looked like I was going to give birth. Within weeks of adopting the low histamine diet, I deflated: my face and body were no longer bloated and I started losing weight, with no effort. I'm at the six month mark and it looks like I'm still losing weight at the rate of 1lb per month or so. I need to buy new jeans.
It might be possible that I'm misunderstanding something, that my body naturally healed itself in some way, or that by adopting a low histamine diet I also adopted a diet low in something that I'm allergic to, which resulted in my symptoms being greatly reduced but I don't believe that to be the case. It may be possible I'm intolerant to other -amines.
I believe that I have been histamine intolerant for some other root cause, since I was a small child, and became very very slowly increasingly more intolerant as I aged.
It is not yet clear what root cause is. My search continues.
Possibilities may involve:
-
insuffient bile or stomach acid, which interferes with histamine metabolism
-
inflammation or increased permeability of the gut, higher histamine absorption
-
insufficient DAO production an enzyme for histamine processing
-
vagus nerve damage
-
possibly some kind of damage or inability in the liver or kidneys which doesn't show up on a regular blood checkup, I dunno really
I am sorry for writing such a bible. I did not intend to,

Histamine intolerance and mast cell disorders can cause a different kind of hyper anxiety that does not respond to anti anxiety meds.
Many different viruses and bacteria can cause HI, although it's fairly uncommon it appears much much more common post Covid: it's becoming increasingly apparent that Long Haul Covid is a histamine or mast cell disorder.
There are often many more seemingly disconnected symptoms associated: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histamine_intolerance#Symptoms
Some people find that reducing histamine intake in food can help them to manage their symptoms. https://mastcell360.com/low-histamine-foods-list/
If you find that eating less histamine helps your symptoms, this is considered clinically significant, but it could also be that you have eliminated a food which you are intolerant or have allergic reaction to. This is a complex topic and medical oversight is required.
Yes: I think that AGI will help to manage many different illnesses, or cure them.
