Pics are always nice... But anyways to me the problem your raising is the least of it because if you're dealing with metal and your gate post is 10 units long but your post only goes into the ground 4 units deep, you might end up with the gate shaking loose simply because you don't have enough counterbalance going into the ground. I don't know what the formulas are involved but I imagine they're not too complicated. Re your other question pouring concrete into the upright is a decent idea to strengthen everything up.

I lost over 100 pounds of weight after moving from my native USA to South America, to a region that has very little packaged food. Not saying the loss of weight was attributable to only this factor, but I'm sure it made a difference.

Fill it in with fixall and then custom cut a piece of 1/4 inch thick oak trim to cover that area.

If its something you're hardly ever going to use then just run the cable through the open door,,, having your door open less than a quarter inch probably isn't going to hurt anything. Sometimes we make things harder than they need to be.

Cool team way too just go with the flow and not cause a needless stink.

The door never opens? Not a problem but it would look more esthetic pleasing going through a wall with a plate of some sort.

The downvotes are due to redditor knee jerk reactions. Yours is a thoughtful thesis and personally, I agree largely. Both movies are largely about grief and the sudden incapacity due to loss control over life condition.
