Assuming you’re in good health and frugal, you’ll be able to live almost anywhere in the US on that income.
Eastport may be right for you but the only way to know for sure is to visit. The downsides are that it’s very far from the rest of Maine including proper medical facilities which a lot of older folks need.

No worries. It sucks since I’m no CMP apologist but I certainly feel like one for suggesting they’re not 100% evil.

That they did. Maybe I misread it, but the poster I was responding to said that CMP benefitted from higher supplier rates.

There are other reasons for increased profits. Lower costs from cuts. Capital investments in previous years paying off. Fewer storms. No pandemic. Increased fuel costs meaning poor people are resorting to electric heat more.
Of all the things to hate CMP for, why focus on blaming them for higher supply fees? The more likely story is that all those suppliers need to recoup their anti-corridor campaign funds and cash in before a huge green investment.

Can you tell me how CMP gets money from increased supplier fees? Won’t delivery be the same since it’s based on unit?

The people will drive you crazy though. Some are kind but the loudest right wingers run the city and county. At best the area has been economically depressed for a century.

You’re probably right. I used to know them as $175k homes where people were wondering why they were such bargains. They could have gotten some renos since then.

They’ve also been neglected for years, if not decades. Tons of work to fix them up.

What do you mean? They have a live outage map and said there are over 100 crews working on Christmas Day.
Sometimes we just have to accept that we live in a rural state in a corner of the country. I make sure to have days’ worth of supplies and either a generator or a way to heat the house without power.

TBF the anti-corridor electric suppliers also need to recoup their costs.

Who watches live TV anymore? /s
Newfoundland is half an hour ahead of Atlantic time and the maritimes are an hour ahead of Eastern time, but planes aren’t falling out of the sky. People adapt. I do it all the time when I travel. Some states are even split up into multiple time zones or have different daylight savings time dates.
I’d prefer more daylight later in the day.

A bit of both, probably. Compare a day pass for a gymnasium at your local Y or university that’s subsidized and how many people they can fit, versus tennis courts with much smaller capacities. Then add rich people who can afford to pay whatever and don’t want the plebs around.

They’re high for a reason. It’s pricey to keep a giant building warm/cool and maintain the facilities.
