Yep, that is exactly what happened, but I was slacked and a discussion was had. I ultimately felt it was/is an important detail (others thought her intoxication was important "Drunk Woman Raped"... I very much vetoed that). The woman assaulted emphasized this detail multiple times in her police interview to highlight why the attack was so horrific for her. It was clear her virginity was important/significant to her and it made the emotional and physical trauma of the rape and assault worse so she wanted authorities and later a court to beware of this. Based on that element of the court documents I did give the headline the final ok, especially since I had already mentioned her virginity in the body of the article.

The court clerk told me I was the second reporter to request the court documents, the other outlet was WJAC. I think that is so weird since the police announced the arrests. Maybe if the protest on Tuesday has a large turnout this will get more coverage.

I'm in Harrisburg, which is closer to some of the places the OP mentioned. Pittsburgh is over 4 hours from me and Philly is nearly as far due to traffic, so if the OP is willing to travel then they will be fine. In terms of writers, I managed a book store in central Pennsylvania for a bit, and lectures or events with authors are definitely some things Pennsylvanians should boast about as they are quite good throughout the state. You are correct, u/Jotakave the climbing and biking groups in central PA are good too, I kinda forgot about them since I haven't been since 2020 (prepandemic). As a reporter, I say be mindful of where you are biking, as the crashes have been higher than usual for a few years now, at least in central PA.

If you like hunting, hiking, reading a book alone on a rainy night, or going to bars to watch a game, playing trivia, or karaoke; and you just forgot to mention all, that then sure, consider it. Actually I cannot find any articles or police releases on this...very odd, but people were off last night and many Public Information Officers are out sick or on vacation so there might be a release on this in the future. I'll keep an eye out.

I'm seeing a commercial truck crash on the turnpike and I'm seeing three medics called to: New Holland Ave & E Ross St. Manheim Township. Lots of prayers needed for those people tonight, and for all those traveling this holiday season.

There are legal nuances to reporting. The intent is also a factor, doxxing requires malicious intent which this is not. Giving the suspects block is pretty standard in journalism. It is also not a complete address, that combined with intent deems this not to be doxxing, especially since the suspect is currently in prison. Actually, the info reporters have is far more detailed and we leave things out such as the child's name, his current condition, the boy's mom's name etc. Also, in this case, other outlets and the police shared the same info. publicly. They just told me it was a Tactical Vehicle (capitalized like that)... no one would give me further details or a better pic. I wish they would say where it was coming from, like was it doing snow work or training, etc. Maybe the family will get more information and share something. If they do I'll def. run an update.

I'm a reporter covering crime in Pennsylvania, it's my job. Not "obsessed" and I hate that these things happen. I work hard to track down the court docs. and police statements, conduct interviews etc. I also leave out some of the most disgusting details, not just in this case, but in all the crimes I cover, as people can use it as "inspiration" or to further harm victims. The things, some people can and will do are repulsive. I do my best to share these stories with the public so you can be aware of what's happening in our state, can protect yourselves, and speak out to make changes as you all see fit.
