As you claimed you never said that. Who’s the one lacking any kind of comprehension? Just because you deleted it now doesn’t mean that our comments right after you said it weren’t valid. So salty for a person who’s no longer Catholic. Got sip some tears of repent.

You’re making that statement as to mean that because it wasn’t your experience it can’t that of others. Or why else would you say that? Either way I’m not going to waste my time on this anymore. Go be a Christian but at least don’t feel like you have to hide behind whatever this account of yours is.

It’s not tantrums. There’s staggering amount of documentation regarding abuse and yet people think it’s a tantrum. ‘not every priest is a pedophile’ is always the usual counter argument and that’s actually true. The problem is when you have an organization going above and beyond to cover all this stuff up for CENTURIES. Abuse of children, genocide of tribal peoples in America, Africa, Australia, corruption and just the cheer amount of money that has been used to pay for churches, mega cathedrals, TV ads and abuse settlements. All the money that could’ve been put towards something meaningful. But yes. It’s Reddit throwing tantrums. Open your eyes. In my personal experience I had an education through Catholic schools. I wasn’t abused but i was bombarded with some BS regarding gay people, sex before marriage and saving yourself as a woman for your husband. What a load of crap that turned out to be.

Your perfect immune system, right. Maybe you’re young now and don’t get sick much. Maybe you never leave your house and that’s why you’ve had two colds in 5 years. You’re being a dick if you’re walking around being a carrier and other people have weak immune systems. My coworker has an immune system disease and she hasn’t done anything social in 3 years because the vaccine doesn’t work as well in a damaged system. So GLAD that you’re ok. For other people they don’t have the luxury to ignore COVID. As a personal note, I’m healthy too and get a cold here and there because I work with little kids. I’d get my flu shot sporadically before. Some years I did. Some years I didn’t. Before COVID I caught a massive bout of flu that left me in bed sweating, with a fever and a splitting headache for 5 days. My immediate family had their flu shots and didn’t get sick in the least. I learned from that lesson. I’d rather have a mild reaction and feel a bit off for a day or two after a shot than to have to endure that again.

Right. So even that year of preK is not available to all due to lack of funds or whatever. I can’t imagine what it takes to expand that service to earlier stages. I’m glad you were able to utilize the program. The campaign I was referring to is on prekforpa.org I’m not sure if your program was related to this organization.

The thing is that people who are pro-life are also usually in a political spectrum that reduces rights for others based on religious principles. They don’t want gay people to marry or adopt. They’d rather hold on to legislation that was written centuries ago regarding guns than do anything to protect everyone from this mass shooting madness we’re in. They seek to censure an erase lives that are unlike their principles. So most of the time is not a single issue you’re voting against it’s a cornucopia of bigotry.

Wasn’t there an initiative a while ago for universal PreK in PA that didn’t materialize? Maybe looking at their efforts or what went wrong would be a good place to start. I think this idea is very noble but I wonder about the practicality and implementation issues. I’m also a librarian and I’ve seen things change since the pandemic. A lot of centers that I visit on my outreach are short staffed because they can’t afford to pay a $15/hr wage. I’ve ran into old daycare workers that now are working in target or elsewhere because it’s just easier and pays more. IIRC Quebec has some sort of universal daycare but I think that’s the only province in Canada to offer it, maybe another place to start looking for models. Good luck

You guys also have decent breweries or at least I’ve had good beer when driving through. I liked that little market Harrisburg has. Lots of interesting offerings. OP mentioned pittsburgh that’s why I brought all of this up. I think we live in a beautiful state and we can certainly grow into the community if you have interest in the outdoors/music/active life.

I live in Pittsburgh and we get amazing concerts all year long. We have museums, lectures by famous writers, international dance companies coming. We have amazing microbreweries, distilleries and restaurants, bakeries, ice cream and coffee. We have outdoor options very close to the city and in the city, golf and disc golf courses, hiking trails and skiing an hour away. Dog parks. Kayaking. Climbing gyms and indoor bicicross facilities. City biking groups/meetups. Urban gardening. There are sooooo many things to do. I think you’re view of our state is pretty limited.

Definitely. My first election as an American was Obama’s second term and I felt so happy voting for someone I felt was capable. Then the dark days of the idiot-in-chief and now I felt the spark again when we elected Fetterman. I hope we keep voting for capable, empathic humans in the future here in PA. Back when I first moved here it was clear to me that these two sides, R & D, were nothing alike. One cared about its constituents and to create legislation to help fix problems. The other side was all about imposing THEIR religious beliefs in all of us. Control. Censor. Fuck all but me attitude. I grew up Catholic and have a strong aversion for the church, what it did to others in the past and their bigotry. I feel like living in America should be about choosing to believe in whatever you like. Not to have a group people dictate what you can or can’t do with your own body

I’m not sure you know how fracking works. I recently read a book about this very issue (Amity and Prosperity) and the reality is that they inject chemicals to break the shell. Those chemicals end up seeping into the ground. The other factor is that the reservoirs that hold residual chemicals and waste water are often poorly maintained and they leak that stuff into underwater wells and reservoirs.
