I took a loan through the lender that sunrun uses. It was something ridiculous like 30 years at 2.99. I expected much worse. I just wanted the safety net and the rate was the same for a 10 year after negotiations, but plan to put the tax incentive directly back in and then basically pay what my electric bill used to be or a little more monthly. Should be like 7 or so years I think.

I'm not sure what the incentives are for this year, but owning seemed to make way more financial sense when we signed up last year. You get the tax incentives and any other benefits that would otherwise just go to sunrun. Also, negotiate hard. It helps if you have other quotes in hand, but sunrun came down thousands of dollars from their original quote and dropped the interest rates after talking a bit with them. Don't take what they first offer.

This morning I watched someone blow through a stop sign and 2 very egregious red light runners and it's not like today is some kind of fluky think. It's all the time. I'm not surprised that people can't handle a red blinking light. People should have to at the very least re-take a written test every once in a while.

10 years roof penetration and workmanship warranty, 10 years warranty that the system will provide at least 85% of the estimated energy, includes service calls and defects, but excludes acts of god, and the panels themselves have a manufacturer warranty on them. I want to say 25 years, but I'd have to dig it up. They've been monitoring the system and already came out to tweak some things without any prompting from me as well, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Ah, I see what you mean. I was thinking it was dependent on sun exposure, but the panels each have their own wattage rating. So an 8kW system is an 8kW system independent of sun. Probably something I should've looked more closely at at the time of purchase. I was more focused on the fact that it would essentially lock in the current rate we were paying to Eversource based on the expected production over the life of the system.

I'm seeing 2.6-3.55 average in CT. It probably depends on your sun as well. We're in a less than ideal spot for sunlight. Have you tried negotiating with them? We ended up with Sunrun after the guy knocked a bunch of money off of the price and interest rate to undercut everyone else. Makes me wonder if we could've kept driving it down even more.

Are you factoring in the rebate? Ours is like $3.55/W, but with the 26% back at tax time it ends up being closer to $2.6

"If your vehicle was purchased from a licensed dealership, the 6.35% (or 7.75% for vehicles over $50,000) sales and use tax is based on the purchase price. We allow full trade-in credit when computing the Connecticut Sales and Use tax if the vehicle was purchased from a licensed dealership."

It sounds like the tax is based on the $49.5k if I'm reading that right.

I agree that there's a problem if we can't teach our own kids about that. I also think it's a problem if parents don't read to their kids and can't teach them basic math. But like all the subjects, I think that the conversation should continue at home and be talked about more at home, but I still think the schools should teach it as well.
