It’s the same problem that every parody site that does this has.
They pretend to be alt-right in a way that anyone with logic will understand is glaringly obvious. Unfortunately, alt-right types are both lacking in critical thinking, and also in personal connections. So, they see a place that posts the things they genuinely believe, and feel like they fit in - even though everyone else is doing it satirically.
Eventually, the alt-right types get more and more populous, and push things further and further, and the logical people slowly start to think “okay this place is a shithole now” and move on. Aaannndddd slowly it becomes another neo-Nazi website.
This happens often, especially because of how quick and easy it is to make “content” nowadays. Satire forums are a dead medium, unfortunately. They will always end up like this unless they’re policed heavily- and people hate overzealous moderation.

Reply to Blue Origin awarded NASA launch contract for Mars mission (Studying magnetic field) by kuroimakina
Not entirely sure how I feel about Blue Origin getting a contract like this with their current track record. I don’t like how space is becoming a playground for billionaires lately. But, if they push science forward, then in the end it’s a net win.
I’ll reserve judgment until the supposed launch date

Did Tucker Carlson make this argument recently, because suddenly I’m hearing it nonstop from every frothing state the mouth gun nut.
But sure if you want to compare completely unrelated things, mosquitos kill a lot more people than both so let’s ban them right? And before you say “THATS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THING” well so are guns and cars.
Get back to me when a gun requires taking an exam, getting a permit, then shooting only with a licensed instructor or firearm owner, then taking a practical test, then carrying liability insurance, with a license that can be revoked if you prove not responsible enough to handle it.
And don’t go pulling a “shall not be infringed.” Because the very first part of that amendment is “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State…”

And if it wasn’t cars it would be something else. It doesn’t stop this from being a stupid bad faith argument. Cars are meant to get you from point A to point B, require a permit, then practical training, then a license, plus insurance (in most states).
Guns are literally meant to destroy things. The vast majority are constantly engineered to be more and more efficient at killing. That is the entire point of their existence. Call it “defense” all you want, guns are literally built to kill, and it takes much less effort to get a gun than it takes to get a car.

Consumers are stupid, and those who aren’t stupid are often too overworked and tired to also spend all their time picking and choosing every single purchase to minimize their impact to the environment. It’s all just how the system works - make everyone overworked, undereducated, and/or generally disenfranchised and they’ll just accept anything
