Some options off the top of my head:

Head into Boston (redline is cheap) on a nice day it’s a pretty nice walk. You can walk or use the train to get to a ton of places.

Go to the Boston public library and explore a bit. It’s a really cool old library that is downright beautiful (and free)

Explore the north end (mostly Italian area), if you want to play tourist get a pistachio macaroon at Mikes bakery and a “lobster tail” pastry at Modern pastry. Get a coffee from anywhere else (my favorite is cafe paradiso but I’m sure there’s better). Go and eat your treats and drink your coffee in the green spaces around the north end. Best pizza here: pepperoni pizza Regina’s on thatcher. Best sandwich: Italian from Monica’s (but the owner kind of sucks). Best cheap lunch: galleria umbertos on Hanover st.

If you like sports Fenway does tours and is cool to see in person. If you’re coming next month you won’t be able to see a game but still cool to see in person. The Celtics and bruins are going to be hard to find cheap tickets, but you can sometimes get cheap tickets from the scalpers if you’re only looking for 1 ticket and it’s soon after tip-off/puck drop.

On a rainy day check out the Harvard natural history museum. Harvard square has become a little corporate, but there’s some cool history still around. If you smoke tobacco of any kind, leavitte and pierce is a fun old school shop to check out.

Cambridge/Somerville/Boston are all easily accessible from Kendall. Explore and report back on favorites!

You’re saying bar, but to clarify are you hoping to also do food? I’d make a reservation if possible, there’s realistically no other way to guarantee a high top area that seats 8-10 people.

Foundry on Elm has an area that would fit your needs. Bright inside and nice - easy parking, Easy access from the redline

From the same restaurant group could reach out to the independent in union square and see if you could use their bar/lounge space on the left side. I don’t think they typically open that side up until the evening, but not 100% sure. - that time of day should have reasonable parking and is easy access from green line

Olde Magoons saloon in Magoun square may not take reservations but you could contact ahead of time. Cozy Irish pub vibes with a slightly confusing menu, but good food and solid beer list. Easy parking and on the green line

Honorable mentions: five horses in Davis square, Russell house tavern in Harvard sq, Za in Kendall square (and they have an email request form you can use)

I was unsure if there was some kind of law in Massachusetts that prevents it since we don’t seem to have red light cameras and use human meter maids for those types of violations. But thanks for your response

Edit: removed rude remark on my part

Reply to comment by SonnyDoge22 in flyover sucked by stunkindonuts

Not sure why you were downvoted. I’ve seen/heard a ton over the years but this one was louder than usual and was powerful enough that my house shook.

I confidently agree with “never heard a flyover like this”

I hope they buy or imminent domain the empty, non buildable, parcel of land at 12 Cameron ave. It’s the tiny lot that’s fenced in next to the ever source/former fire station with the mural.

I’m not saying it would add much to the small little park space right there. But it’s an overgrown eyesore that rarely gets shoveled in winter so so something better could probably be done with that land
