Nice to see some data. It does feel a bit cherrypicked (or alternatively maybe an advertisement for how nice the routes could be if more than a few blocks had bus lanes) to only consider a tiny portion of the overall route. Anecdotally (I (try to) take the 77 a lot) that route seems to get bunched up and come more like two to three busses every 30 minutes than what the actual schedule says, and it's faster to walk between Cameron and Porter in practice about half the time.

What I would like to see instead of bus travel time as a metric is person travel time - something like given a random distribution of humans arriving at the bus stop, how long on average does it take, including waiting for the bus, to get to a given destination.

There is a construction project near Alewife that is pile driving for the next few months, maybe they were doing some off hours. I read somewhere else that they are behind schedule.

We do though (maybe you personally don't), just like e.g. people hold politicians responsible for ruining lives with penalties for nonviolent drug offences. Crucially the current rules only suspend licenses for moving violations, which have a very different risk profile.

There is a three strike system already, though I don't think it includes obstructing a bike lane. You could advocate for changing the state law to include bike lane obstruction, but you then have to take responsibility for suspending licenses of the various gig workers that rely on their car to survive, and I feel like that's probably too unpalatable.

There was a story a few months ago about a city that added charging cables to electrical poles as a cost effective implementation. I could see that working out well here, but at the same time it got a lot of pushback when it was reposted in my local hipster square fb group on the grounds that supporting any sort of car is unacceptable. So I doubt it would actually happen (and I'm stuck with my combustion engine for the foreseeable future).
