Something about the treble on the Hexa bothers me. Cymbals sometimes somehow just sound “low res”. Idk how else to describe it.

The bass also seems inconsistent. Sometimes I feel they have good bass and enough bass, other times they feel bass light. It’s not a matter of fit or seal.

I really wanted to like them but I don’t find them to be as good as I hoped. I guess you can’t complain for $80 though. I like my ER4SR and Timeless AE more, but those both cost a lot more. I guess they just aren’t the “giant killers” I thought they were hyped up to be.

Do you have the OG Timeless or the AE?

I have the AE, and the only EQ I do is under 1Khz. I do a low shelf to reduce some bass, and a little boost centered at 650hz to flatten the lower mids. I enjoy the treble a lot, but I also don’t listen very loud so the slight V-shape is welcome.

You should still try the Hexa.

I’ve been a full size headphones guy for a while, other than true wireless buds when out and about. But I got an ER4SR last summer, and then last month I got the Hexa and Timeless AE.

All 3 of these IEMs are great, and sometimes make me question why I spent $600 on the Focal Elex. IEMs for the money are the way to go. I still sometimes use the Elex and enjoy it though. The ER4SR is almost more of a tool, but the Timeless AE and the Hexa are a great combination of fun while still being technical and accurate enough.

I’ve used them all and I’ve been using Apple Music for over a year straight. That’s the longest I’ve stuck with one streaming service. No complaints.

I’ve got a few full size headphones and a few good IEMs. I’m honestly not sure which one has the “most detail”. Focal Elex, AKG K371, 7Hz Timeless AE, Etymotic ER4SR, Truthear Hexa, and AirPods Pro 2’s is what’s in my rotation. Maybe I’m just not able to hear detail as well as some others with golden ears. I’d think that most would assume that the ER4SR would have the most, and maybe it does, but I don’t know.

The two I’ve been using the most lately is the Timeless AE and the Hexa. The Timeless is $260, and the Hexa is $80. I’m not sure that I’m really hearing more detail with the Timeless over the Hexa. I know that the Timeless is the more fun sounding one in terms of impact and fun treble extension.

I use the Qudelix 5K and an iPhone 13Pro with the lightning to usbc cable from Cayin that’s meant for the RU6. No camera cable.

I also have part of a MagSafe sticker stuck to the 5K so it sticks to the back of my phone. I use this setup every single day.
