I have the ER4SR, but I enjoy the Hexa and Timeless AE more. I’ll keep them around though. I like having a few different flavors around.

A lot of people who have never heard an Ety associate them with being bright and bass light. Some are definitely on the bass light side, but none are actually bright. Etys have a really good mid-range though, that’s what they should be known for.

You may be able to add some brightness with a little EQ.

Except there is no real sub-bass. That would be my biggest problem with the 600, and was my biggest complaint about the 650.

Otherwise they are pretty great.

Flattest is probably somewhere close to the Etymotic ER4SR. Most people will say that they have no bass though. They measure flat in the bass with a rise where the lack of ear gain would be.

There are some that say that frequency response is everything and all that matters. Saying that frequency response alone is responsible for literally everything including imaging, soundstage, detail retrieval, bass slam, you name it.

Also, not everyone wants to use EQ.

Yea, but why not give us a simple EQ. Or allow a third party app to have a system wide EQ.

I had the AirPods Max, but recently sold them. I do like the AirPods Pro 2 tuning without any EQ though.
