Because it removes an income stream from some of our fellow citizens, dragging down quality of life and the economy for all through knock-on effects. Don't mistake me- I'm not the conversational type but I'll happily put up with a chatty taxi driver that put in the work to get the job with a locally-accountable company. This driver can legibly calculate and predict his wages, feed his family (versus go on welfare or worse), and pay his taxes. Just me in the car is selfish transportation, a single usage of the vehicle carbon expenditures where double use used to be the norm. My comfort is a selfish consideration if it cuts all those drivers out of the economy. And NO, not everyone can retrain.

They have to BECAUSE OF UBER. They're looking out for their union members, taking care of their drivers.

Don't get me wrong- ride share makes ecological sense. But current ride share companies, ESPECIALLY FUCKING UBER, are taking financial advantage over riders, people with families that drive for a living, and their own drivers, all whilst sucking down all the profit. They don't give back to the local economies, only prey upon them. And just check the news: How many registered and bonded taxi drivers rape or otherwise abuse their fares vs uber drivers?

Horseshit. Taxi drivers pay the dues to cart us around and taxi companies provide the local accountability uber shirks. Gig workers don't jump through any of the hoops or meet regulation like taxi drivers, so you're getting less product and the economy get less gears grinding along. Your short-term comforts feed a corporation at their and all of our expense. Oh, and this to a corporation that has always told us and their drivers that they're working towards driver-free rides, fuck everyone BUT them. I mean, if that's you, take that ride but...

Hold up, uber has been fucking taxi services and taxi drivers and NOW they turn to the Taxi and Limousine Commission for help?? And NYC allowed this?? Big business, folks, not little people. That's who wins nowadays. Evidently, their stockholder profits are more important than our rent payments...

WRONG!!

This character was ret-conned into several other stories following his success

OOPS! Turns out, it's always been with us, through the hitler, Stalin, Nixon, and trump administrations. It was said that Rasputin was especially offended and jealous of its power and influence, especially when trump's children started ignoring him.

Please look up Measles vs Measles outbreaks vs Measles vaccination numbers and why we have multiple versions of the Flu vaccine each year. I get your point but what the average American deals with AIN'T the same as what's coming out of China right now. Whether or not you believe in teh Butterfly Effect, doesn't mean that something growing, incubating and changing, on the other side of the globe doesn't affect us is asinine!

If you're linking Fauci to an either/or approach for either, then I'm gonna have to dismiss your argument as partisan and against the greater Human good. I detest how fucked up the initial months of response confused and paved the road for confusion but Science and Medicine are bigger and better things than fucking politics and local jingoism, so I'm always gonna be a proponent of masks AND vaccines. Now, having said that, humans are gonna kill ourselves. And there are too goddamn many of us for the planet to support in the meantime, so anyone who eschews masks or vaccines, knowing you fuck yourselves and your neighbors, I applaud your heroic efforts!! Bravo, count more supernumerary humans off the lopsided list and keep up the good work! You are working for a brighter future!

I can't tell if yo're joking or just representing jackassery. How many vaccinated people do you know that have been re-infected? America thinks it's out of the fire and nobody is wearing masks. Someone, just one person, from someplace ELSE where the covid trump virus strains are different will spread a new contagion that our immune systems ain't used to. A new variant, a new sub variant, it doesn't matter- most Americans are treating this like a done deal and so will be caught offguard and with their masks down.

It only grinds my gears because the latest few generations don't value the width and breadth of sheer data and knowlege available to them and instead take the easy path when overwhelmed by all the options- knowledge is losing value by becoming too easy. All the jokers that come to reddit to ask a question they could just as easily (and more often, more reliably) answer with their own quick websearch bear out this premise.

And that phrase way, way predates Seth McFarlane, all of his genius, AND the 80's!
