Bob at Food For Thought is one of the best people in Pittsburgh. He's what people mean when they say Pittsburgh is friendly

Reply to Has anyone replaced their furnace recently? How much did it cost (including labor and tax)? by amanda_cate
I didn’t have mine replaced but very recently had some minor repair work. Asked about what it would/will cost to replace my furnace (from 2007, in a 110 year old Shadyside home, probably in the next 5-7 years) and was told $3500ish all in for full replacement parts and labor. The HVAC person is a very good contact and friend via my wife’s former work as an East End property manager. We’ve used him for years and he’s always been beyond responsive and fair to us, so I assume this is a very reasonable cost estimate

Option two. I was actually born in Mercer but raised in Allegheny. Left for college, then moved to CA for a while. came home to start 06, with no real intentions of staying or leaving. but I was and am so impressed with the direction Pgh has been moving I've never left and prob never will...at least until some retirement options crop up...

It’s not even there anymore. It’s not anywhere. That was for sure a big loss to Shady too

Wasn’t his decision, blame Henne for giving them the boot. Mostly sad for Shady, tho, as it proves to be a boon for Rat and the Tav. Butler St didn’t have anything like it, not down where they are anyway. And it’s still the same great place and great people. He actually played the hand he was dealt like a boss, who would expect anything less

a stretch, but Bigham Tavern on Mt Wash can be pretty good. next time you are in town and want some of the best around, tho, go to Wm Penn Tavern (now in Lawrenceville)
