Pretty much any shoe can be resoled. GYW is really just a slightly more fool proof method than glue. But glue is really quite reliable as well. The issue is really the mid sole - which requires a more extensive process than just resoling.

High quality rubber but traction quite literally requires the rubber to wear off. By definition all rubber soles will wear out relatively quickly - especially those with greater traction.

Darn tough are good for hiking and long distance walking - IF you have regular or narrow feet. They don’t work well with wider than average feet. And I strongly encourage you only get regular cushion - not full cushion, which is much tighter.

For everyday/ casual use, short walks, etc, I prefer Smartwool, which makes a looser, warmer, more cushioned sock that is better for regular use.

That’s because speed queen uses designs from 30 years ago when you had to basically pre- dissolve your detergent.

They are kind of like Toyotas. Reliable by virtue of using old technology for a million years without any changes, after the rest of the industry has moved on. That’s why the 2023 4Runner has a 5 speed transmission and gets 18mpg and the tr7 can’t handle regular detergent lol.

It is subjective because everyone’s gait and weight is different. Maybe for you it’s longer. But generally speaking, the cushion of the shoes will be long gone by the time it’s literally unwearable.

Edit: also this is the guideline for running not walking, which obviously involves more impact.
