I got the impression that we gave up when the Earth eventually got, or will get, swallowed up by our sun when it becomes a red giant, so we sent out these pods that could stay self-sufficient for such a vast period of time. I think most people can agree that actual humanity will not last that long, but such pods might be able to.

Not us, no. But the future of humanity, if we do indeed choose this path, is a hell of our own making. I've been thinking about it too. If this message is indeed from the future, I doubt we would be able to change it, because then of course, I would have never received the message in the first place.

Yeah I get that. I guess I thought given how she could speak that she'd be close to, if not as intelligent as us. An animal killing and eating out of pure instinct and an intelligent being doing... those things, are two completely separate islands altogether

I understand where you are coming from, but it's more that she didn't kill her "food" first before consuming them, which she probably could have quite easily done. At least it was relatively quick, I suppose.

I honestly have no clue. Either that or something to with the nature of the voice, what it really is - that however I don’t know

Firstly, I didn’t even remember doing any of that until when I remembered, Maple did something to my memories but the effect seemed to wear off as she grew weaker
Secondly, where would a 7 year old get pigs or chickens if they didn’t own any?

I don't know if she got away, it's more likely she did die, but there's always that itching in the back of my mind. That insistent "what if?"

Honestly man, I was just a kid so I don't have a definitive answer to many of your questions. But yeah, I do think children and other people going missing probably had something to do with how we were looked upon, but nothing connecting us to any of them. Not a nice environment for a kid, I suppose.
And no, I never want to go back.

She did say that she made them "a part of her", maybe she thought she was doing good in that sense.
Let's keep in mind I only say "she" because of the voice, which very well could have been a facade.

I suppose I'm lucky, but like I said, I dropped the carved knife on my way out, so there's nothing left of the remains. I'm sure they were suspicious, but there wasn't really any evidence to look at.
I agree about bringing her meat. Makes me think that, for whatever reason, she needed her meals to be alive.

Mostly inconclusive since the place I was trapped doesn't exist anymore, but they took a blood sample and found some vitamin deficiencies, and of course dehydration. I don't know the specific things that made up the fluid I lived off of, but I never want to taste it again

No one deserves the treatment of being whole-body degloved while alive. I hope she’s gone and that she’s resting in peace, but then again they didn’t find any bones…

Reply to Gashadokuro by Boris Groh by Summer-Time9746
For those unaware, Gashadokuro are a yokai in Japanese folklore. They are said to be born on battlefields where many people and animals lost their lives. None of them ever received any death rites or memorials, so the intense anger builds up and their skulls and bones come together to form one giant skeletal creature.
The Gashadokuro will then hunt humans and eat them, usually at night, continuing this behaviour until all the residual anger has dissipated, and it crumbles and disappears
