Fun fact: the existing extension cost $4.45B for 1.8miles of track. The Q cruises at about 20mph through that section of track.
So when you’re going uptown from 63rd St on the Q you’re traveling at about $50B/hr or about $14MM/second.
Always a fun way to think about it while on the train 😊.

I was so confused when I first walked past that location because it has a chick-fil-a logo on the door and I thought they’d opened some kind of mini store or something.
It’s a great thing though— it has among other things alleviated the delivery people from taking over the public space at 84th & 3rd and provides these folks with much needed bathrooms and a climate controlled space to rest.

We wouldn’t want to just start enforcing laws right away on these poor drivers… we gotta give them a few years to get ready!

I've carried a pm2.5 meter on the 6 train before-- those stations tend to be very close to the surface and well ventilated-- the pm2.5 was below 10 for the entire trip.
Ventilation makes all the difference in these cases but it's important to figure out WHAT is in the particulates as well. You can boil water in your kitchen and hit a 300+ pm2.5 reading but the steam probably isn't killing you.

Pro-tip: just like the people fare jumping and breaking other rules, you too can ignore the bus driver.

Fun fact: most large-scale preground coffee you buy in grocery stores has cockroach bits in it. People who are allergic to cockroaches can't drink it.
(not saying this is happening at the roastery-- they like most coffee shops these days grind on-site)

It’s an absolute crapshow post-pandemic. Everyone we know has pulled their kids out. We hear things started declining back in like 2013 but the pandemic just threw things off a cliff.
