I just moved to east lyme. I think itās the sweet spot for me. Easy to get up North with route 9, 20 minutes to mystic, closer to Groton/New London, and itās a small town with (almost) everything you need in Flanders Village with beachy stuff in Niantic, and the whole area is surrounded by wooded/outdoorsy state parks and beaches.

Work on the GSB is on the superstructure for the next 2-3 years, no work up top causing construction delays for at least 4 years (phase 2/3)

I work on it. First phase is all structural steel repair, under the bridge. AKA the only evidence of work from above is the lane closure to reduce live load on repair nodes. Three year contract that started in spring 2022. 2nd and 3rd phases saw the engineer get fired so another design needs to come out. I expect at least a year delay from that. Hopefully phases 2 and 3 (they are combined) go out to bid for construction to begin in 2026.

Probably just old paint. Paint goes on and then glass beads are poured on the wet paint. As paint wears down beads fall out.

Canāt answer to the first part of your question, but for the second part:
Temporary paint is used immediately after repaving a road because the fresh oils in asphalt would dissolve away the new paint. The temporary paint is a different chemistry thatās is more resistance, and I believe they do not put the little glass beads that form the reflective paint in the permanent stuff. Permanent paint will go down after a month or two.

Iāve done lots of exploring in the Groton shore/ Noank area, fair amount on 161 in niantic to 156 and then 213. 85 is fun and familiar. So far been trying to find zippy roads by the shore. Iāll venture into the more forested areas up north east in the spring. Thanks for the advice!

Construction plans include traffic plans with proposed traffic patterns. Bad patterns including signage is a sign that a) someone isnāt following the proposed plan which means the inspection team should say something or b) bad traffic pattern design and someone on the field staff should recognize it and propose changes

Hey yāall I work in construction. Towns have ordinances about whether they need their local police on sites. Most towns do because itās free money for them. Most contracts will say you need a cop OR a certified Flagger. The lack of cops thing (that Iāve seen recently) is due to cops and state troopers numbers being low causing shortages in police able to actual do construction detail.
