You need to look at intent, which actually matters with the removal of classified material. It sounds like this Lietenant Colonel intentionally removed classified material from secure facilities. Especially that the guy handed over a thumb drive with documents on it. That isn't an opps, also a Lieutenant Colonel isn't getting a home SCIF to review documents, so there is no way he accidently forgot them when he brought work home.

I am not going to be injured or killed for products that the company I am working for has insurance on.

I wouldn't even stop stone from stealing money from a place Inworked in college. If they want money in the till, have at it, i.will help pack the bag for you. Again, they have insurance to replace what is stolen.

Do I need to let a parent.know every time I have a student who wants to go by something other than the name on their school forms? Because that can be a real Hassel. There is a student in my school where the parents changed the kids name after adoption, but the girl prefers her original name.

It isn't hurting anyone calling this kid by their preferred name. Kids are allowed to have their own identity separate from whT their parents want and as long as it isn't hurting anyone who cares.
