"We are hosting NYC Smart Compost pilot programs in Astoria and Lower Manhattan to test out “smart bin” technology as an option for food scrap drop-offs" https://www.nyc.gov/assets/dsny/site/services/food-scraps-and-yard-waste-page/nyc-food-scrap-drop-off-locations

I guess this means the pilot was successful. (Or that the company making money from this is run by a friend of Adams)

I thought it was from Ethiopia for some reason. Ah, the plant is from Ethiopia. The Yemenis cultivated it.

"The Yemenis procured the coffee beans from the Ethiopian Highlands via coastal Somali intermediaries and began cultivation" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee

So they missed part of the journey. :)

I see what you are saying, I guess it's more of a semantics issue, and just eyeballing the data I think people can get how the moving average is lagging, but "exactly 6.5 months out of date" just seems a bit too harsh of a way of phrasing it.

That aside, I think this is a pretty cool visualization.

I like the C and C++ acknowledgement for perl. A lot of people know it as a swiss army chainsaw and superb for text manipulation but it has object oriented features that can be used to build complex, easily maintainable software, too. It just doesn't force you to like Java, so it takes some discipline. :D
