Sure sounds to me like they have goals other than money.

It's not uncommon for religious groups to try and shut down pr0n. No idea if that's what they are or not, but their name doesn't give me confidence.

No, it is ethical:

UI redesigns never, ever go well. You just know they're going to "simplify" and "streamline" it into the same shitty mobile experience for everyone, even when you're on a computer.

To waste 2/3 of your screen and to give everyone the same shitty mobile experience even when they're on a full computer, obviously!

Completely false. Charter bought Time Warner Cable (TWC), they did not buy Time Warner.

Same, but I also use 5 different domains to mix things up even more. I also embed creation dates in them and rotate them every now and then to further narrow down when they were sold/stolen.

Fortunately ISPs can only see domain names and not full URLs when HTTPS is used (which is what like 99% of the internet uses at this point).

Spectrum (Charter Communications) != Time Warner != Time Warner Cable (which no longer exists)

I don't think they would be that stupid, it would be bye-bye permits if they tried that.

Depends on how the server is configured. Most still do this yes, however it is rate limited so someone can't try thousands of random addresses per second. You can't really rate limit DNS like that.
The "whitelist" option is similar to what people do now with PGP/GPG keys, no special server needed.

The issue with that is it tells scammers the email address is real and valid while also allowing them to completely bypass all spam/phish protection.

Eh, the connections to and between servers are usually encrypted with TLS, just like websites, so it's not like it's completely plain-text either.

That's most likely the real problem: no cloud access means the gov't can't just help itself to your video and data like it can if it was stored in the cloud.
Though wired cams do not require FCC approval for anything, so I don't see how this ban will affect wired-only cameras installed in a private setting.

They are just rebranded Dahua, so expect them to disappear at some point too.

Do this and get caught ~300 more times. If they hide it better so they don't get caught they can do it much more.

It's not a 1-sided view, it's the inevitable outcome of giving people absolute power with zero accountability. One bad apple spoils the bunch, and there is currently no way to remove bad apples.

The issue is the moment you try to hold them accountable, they go on an unofficial strike and stop doing their jobs. They then spin it as "see how bad crime is under your current elected officials? Think about that the next time you vote!"
