I have probably seen every second of this movie a couple hundred times over the years. I have not seen the movie from start to end. It's always on TV for its 24 hours in my house, but I'm always doing something other than sitting to watch it for 2 hours straight.

4 or 5 years ago, my wife and I were sitting on the couch watching it and she let me know that I had been sitting there since the movie started, and there was only about 5 minutes left. I got up, went into another room, and came back when it started again.

Snowboarding specific helmets are awesome. They keep your head comfy and warm, even on the coldest days. I started out with an old Pro-tec skateboarding helmet that had no insulation, and nearly froze my head off.

As a new snowboarder, you will likely spend a lot of time on the ground. Just make sure that you have some sort of waterproof layer below the waist.

Good luck and have fun. You’ll be hooked once you link a few turns and can make it a good way down the mountain.

I did a flip flop hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2016 where I hiked from Georgia to West Virginia, then bought an Amtrak ticket from D.C. to Bangor. What I didn’t notice was that there was a 4 hour delay in Portland waiting for the contracted bus to finish the route. I would have easily paid an extra $100 to just stay on a train and not waste all the time and effort getting to and onto a bus for a slow ride. Take it easy.

DO NOT BUY A COUNTERTOP ELECTRIC KNIFE SHARPENER. those things will grind down the edge of your knife to a jagged mess. Find a professional who can do it correctly, and can sharpen to the correct angle. Some of my knives have a 22 degree edge, and some have a 17 degree edge. An electric sharpener would grind both to the same angle, requiring a lot of metal to be ground away in order to regrind the edge.

I used to be an instructor close to a military base with a bunch of HALO qualified dudes stationed here. They used to come to the DZ to get transition training for civilian gear. I can’t tell you how many videos of these guys I saw that literally scared me. It was way too common for them to pull their BOC pilot chute and hold on to it as if it were the rip cord on the HALO gear. Many times they would hold on until decision altitude, let go of it to grab the cutaway handle and end up chopping a canopy that was actually reaching line stretch. One of the most memorable of these videos had the AFF instructor on the jump slapping the shit out of HALO boy’s hand to try to get him to let go of the pilot chute.
