Both can be true. The elite forces could be seriously incurring loses while the overall russian forces still winning.

well to be fair, Belarus is willing to throw women at the problem since they aren't as stupid but just as cruel as Russia. doing my best to sound as i am not praising Belarus for being significantly less sexist than Russia, but well; "more female war criminals"
again not having a government whose state religion is deeply traditionalist has some advantages when raising an arbitrary number to wave around.

at this point, Israel should justify our aid by permanently crippling the entire IT department of the Islamic Republic.

Reply to comment by HubrisSnifferBot in Brazil’s Lula Intensifies Diplomatic Push for Peace in Ukraine by batmaninwonderland
well it does matter because not everyone is Putin stooge. If Lula and Zelenskiy do the song and dance of peace Putin would be cemented as unreasonable party who will call even his allies the west unless they hand him everything he wants. China's plan was a nothing burger, but Zelenskiy who initially was frustrated with it has moved into "we'll talk about". the goal is to isolate Russia rhetorically and eventually Economic. about moving the needle even in India where there is a cynical self interest about "if we play nice with Russia we'll get their stuff when they croak"
Also Vietnam happen in a free society, where the loses could be seen but the benefits of victory weren't. in Russia it is the opposite, a society of brutal repression and where the nationalists have clear goals and "benefits"- i.e. seeing those regions in the Russian landmass.

Russia has more in common with a snake than with a bear.
a bear is a brave and solitary creature that can endure with patience the winter. Russia on the other hand is a slithering creep, that lives of attacking thing smaller than them and trying to poison things larger than themselves. cowardly, weak and unable to survive without direct sunlight to aid them with their body temperature. this an attitude reflected by all those loyal to the ghoulish cabal we politely call the Kremlin.

it actually spread down there, seeing how in North America the conservatives on both sides the 49th parallel have been under performing for the last two election cycles.
albeit, in Canada they did do well in Ontario and in the US our cons did well in new York.
