I am in similar situation (actually almost exact same) and I file both state taxes. I pay NYS tax and get rebate credits on my NJ taxes. You will not pay NYC tax however, since youre not resident of NYC.

Im going to be honest here and say America. Ironically I am an immigrant who came here as a kid, but I do feel more American than even my original ethnicity. But it also depends where Im at, and in the US i feel less American in a way. Obviously traveling the US I will identify with NJ more, but if youve been to other parts of the world, youll see how homogenous the US really is. Its pretty much all suburbs everywhere whether its NJ, Florida, or Arizona, it feels VERY similar (compared to other countries obviously). But I will admit when I do travel I always only tell people I am from NYC/NJ (code word for "I work in city but live in NJ") so theres that.

I would say in our case we need at the bare minimum a interstate agency solely dedicated to transit in our metropolitan area. We have like 5 agencies now serving NJ and NY and all act in their own self interests, instead of the interest of commuters and citizens. As others mentioned a federal agency isnt really ideal here.

>Transit options are nice and this one sure is pretty cool but not so cool when it is at a ridiculous cost.

Completely agree with everything you said, but I will say that in a decade no one will care about these cost overruns.

End of day we should absolutely do what you said, but getting overly expensive infrastructure built is better than saving money and not building anything. Its sad that we're in the a state were its either or.....

Honestly overall that sounds pretty good. We need housing asap and things like environmental reviews are really not that important right now especially for smaller housing.

Thats why he won re-election.

But its a shame that later Christie threw away a lot of the that earned "respect" by trying to bow down to Trump to get into his administration. Maybe it wasnt as bad as the Ted "your wife is ugly Cruz" situation, but still I lost respect for him. I will also never forgive him for cancelling the Gateway project....even if NJ would have been screwed financially, setting it off by decade still screwed us even more.
