Yeah, the comment sections in local TV news websites are always cesspools.

I believe Papa Bush lived (at least for the last part of his life) in Tanglewood, also very upscale, but over in the Galleria/Uptown area. All the boys in ZZ Top grew up in that neighborhood, though I don't think it was as upscale then as it is now.
Enron evil doer Jeff Skilling lived in River Oaks before it all went bust. I believe prosperity gospel preacher Joel Osteen lives in River Oaks.
Honestly, not sure it's a neighborhood I'd want to live in if I could afford it.

The name of the victim hasn't been released, but for those unfamiliar with Houston, River Oaks is the really rich neighborhood inside the 610 loop in Houston.

I think the problem is that there's a lot of easily triggered violent bigots out there, and they'll start send those death threats after they hear Tucker Carlson complain about the joke.

I only started watching Friends after My So Called Life was cancelled - that had been my Thursday night show in Fall 1994.

Back when "Law & Order" was still on TNT, I caught an airing of an episode where a character dropped the N-word, was a bit jarring to hear that on what was originally a network broadcast show.

Both those stories could be done today, but with changes so that the storylines are fleshed out to be more than big punchlines.

Considering the impending existence of Paramount+ with Showtime, not sure anyone is looking to sell Showtime, at least not as a stand alone.

Back in the early days of Season 1, I recall a quote from somewhere, probably an online article, that was essentially how did it take this long for someone to realize that casting Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis together would be fucking magic.

Network sitcoms tend to have sucky pilot episodes. They're often awkward and choppy. That's why I usually give a network sitcom a few episodes.
[That being said, the pilot episode for 'Animal Control' was surprisingly good for a network sitcom pilot - might of helped that they borrowed the opening from a classic 'This American Life' segment.]

Not sure if it is obscure or not, but back when I was in middle school I had read "Collusion Course" by Nigel Hinton and it's just an old read I think about from time to time.
There's another book that I remember reading back then, but not sure of the title, I think it might be "My Name is Asher Lev" by Chaim Potok, but not sure.

I'm sure there's plenty of good charities connected to Islam, so if people want to donate for religious reasons, they can donate to those, not the fucking Taliban, which is just men using religion to justify their regressive patriarchal fantasy.
