What a fucking joke.

$10 credit on the $100 bill I'll have for turning my lights on and off in the winter.

Why thank you for tomorrow's lunch!

Humbabwe t1_iy4dgfo wrote

That’s, like, legitimately funny.

This is a monthly $10 credit, btw. Not one time. They are also implementing a program for low-income “customers” but I don’t think these people realize just how many people are low-income in this economy.

Regidor t1_iy4gydp wrote

I had the opposite thought, and fear it'll be like CT's health insurance credits where you have to be beyond poor to get affordable insurance rates, so it will basically go to no one. If it's anything like the health insurance where a family of 1 has to make less than 17k a year then you probably don't have a house or apartment anyway.

That’s kind of what I meant. It’s like with the “hero pay” or whatever it was called. They clearly didn’t think as many people would apply as did and then they moved the goal posts. I don’t think the people who are doing alright realize how many aren’t.

asspirate420 t1_iy4jisd wrote

This is coming from a Lamont fan and left leaning voter, Lamont and the Democratic Party will tokenize this $10 as “evidence” of them “strong arming” Eversource into helping the people.

”How much could an electric bill cost, ten dollars?”

Don't worry, Eversource will be contributing $10 Million to the Operation Fuel for low income households. I mean, they've got the profits that line the pockets of the greedy bastards, so better make it look like they're doing something with the pennies they won't even notice losing. 🤦

A $10 credit is basically saying "fuck you peasant." It's also saying "I have no idea what money is worth because I just write checks and don't have to worry about paying my bills month to month, or year to year for that matter."

It's also amazing that the majority does nothing and seems to give less than a fuck about it. The majority.. i.e. the true ruling class if they knocked their heads together and figured it out.

Idek_h0w t1_iy5y6ds wrote

So we are just going to reward Eversource with $10 for jacking up our prices 50%? That $10 doesn't really go to us if Eversource can just make a discount on the bill they jacked up.

3

mas90guru t1_iy5ztvn wrote

Spoiler: Eversource built in a $25 give back into their price hike. So they are ahead $15.

Spoiler2: This will come out of your increased property taxes once - in order to fund this - the state cuts what they give towns again.

I’m listening to the democrats and republicans debate on the floor in a special session today, and the republicans are demanding the government dip into the “rainy day fund” to go bigger and bolder in helping people. What kind of game is this the the utility companies are playing? First the increase, now the credit. The credit should not distract anyone - it's a 50% increase and a 12% credit or something.

I think they are raising the actual rates for electricity, so you may not even notice it. My entire bill is just the delivery and trouble to get it to me. I feel like the increased price in power may not even be noticeable.
