A few weeks ago the news had Ozzy coming out of a hospital and how he couldn't perform any longer... Now, let's rock.... Wtf

I thought this was in reference to the band Power Trip who's singer unfortunately died a couple years ago. It's too bad it isn't. They were so good.

Yeah, I got pretty excited there for a second... Same time though, I don't think I'd want to know what Axl would sound like doing Executioners Tax. Or Ozzy. Or Hetfield. Or Maynard...

RIP Riley.

I heard that ozzy is gonna fo a "throne tour" .. like the king he is. Dave, and Axl did it, when they broke thier legs, so... if anybody deserves a throne, it's ozzy..

Jeez. Does Ozzy perform for the love of music even? Seems like he should definitely be just enjoying life at home in a rocking chair.

So a metal version of Desert Trip that I attended in 2016 (Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Paul McCartney, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and Roger Waters)...

We paid $1,500 to each ticket in 2016. I wonder what they'll be this time?

Beyobi t1_jeb80h7 wrote

Interesting. I hadn't heard about that. I went to Ozzfest that year in California and Bruce was talking all kinds of shit about Ozzy. Bruce came off as a complete asshole and we boo'ed him. You don't talk shit about the guy that's headlining the tour you are getting paid by. And you don't rant to the crowd instead of playing music. That's not what we were there for.

HimalayanJoe t1_jebfxkr wrote

I went to see Ozzy a few years back and it was absolute garbage. He was pure crap, without question the worst concert I've ever been too. He could barely string a sentence together between songs and just kept repeat "I love you guys" over and over. His band were on fire and he was a wet piece of cardboard on stage.

Isn’t it amazing that these guys are in their 60s and 70s and still rocking hard.

Oh man, I remember that drama. On the Iron Maiden message board we were having discussions about crowdfunding an ad in the New York Times or something with some self-righteous defence of the band after the incident.

Mercy.

$1600 for pit tickets to a bunch of old dudes riding their legacy coattails…yeah, I think I’ll go mosh at about 80 fresh local shows with that money instead.

oSpid3yo t1_jebwr5y wrote

I wasn’t wrong I just wasn’t exact as I didn’t remember how far off it was. I just saw the number and said “heeeeeeeelllllllll no”

Then I’d have to buy an RV camping ticket which I wasn’t able to find a price for yet. Gas, food, beer, booze, drugs, hookers, and I’m looking at spending well over 10k to see some bands that probably aren’t even good live anymore.

Maybe when the full lineup drops.

7

hoffsta t1_jebxbfi wrote

I’m definitely NOT going at those prices. I could have so many more memorable experiences for that dough. I just saw an amazing 4-band metal show, headlined by Soulfly, for $20, and got to be front and center in the pit.

This mosh pit would be like two full European vacations, lol.

I just want an AC/DC final tour announcement. And Ozzy has sucked for like 25-30 years. Can’t imagine how he is now, especially with his health issues.

To be fair I’m in BC and it’s probably cheaper for either of us to fly to Cali or Vegas than it is to fly to eachothers provinces lol. For me, definitely

When I lived in Sask I could’ve gone to Vegas for a week with hotel/buffet included for cheaper than a flight to BC in December

My first thought too. There was something about how they captured that old school thrash sound and evergy that modern thrash doesn't do for me.

Log and Kreator just did a new collab to recently to benefit a charity in his name

Tay0214 t1_ject3y5 wrote

Damn, I haven’t really flown for a few years since I did in camp. I didn’t pay but my tickets just to go up North a bit we’re 1200-1800 lol

Regina to Kelowna was over $900 around the early 2010s. I guess last time was right near the start of the pandemic Kamloops to Calgary and even that was 200-300 each way. I guess I’ll have to check swoop next time, honestly hadn’t even heard of it until now.

It really is. I think that during the development and subsequent release of any drug there should be an independent process of studying the drugs effects.

Opioids were sold as non-addictive, this could have been proven incorrect well before the drugs reached the market if we had a system which audited and verified the drug trial process.

Of course this could not happen with every drug, there's solutions to that.

I don't think Rob has a bad word for anyone. He didn't even say anything bad about the other Priest guys while he was out of the band. He's the metal community's chill AF gay uncle.

They totally blew it with pairing up the bands. G 'n' R should be the same night as AC/DC. Maiden and Ozzy, and a 3 hour Metallica show. No Tool. Their music has little in common with any of these other bands, and they are horribly out of place. At least they should have their own night

It does, and it does. But the major executives at the radio stations and recording labels and concert promoters are all the age where they'd've been teens when these artists were in their heyday.

It's the Boomer problem all over again, except it's Gen X now that has the entrenched tastes. I am Gen X, and I know that I haven't kept up with music since 15 to 20 years ago, when Adele and Lady Gaga were making their first hits. I want to be more like my mom was, who listened to Top 40 right up until she lost her faculties in the mid 2000s, and liked Matchbox Twenty as much as she liked Chuck Berry as a teenager or Glenn Miller as a small child.
