At the rate they're going, I'd bet they'll be here before 2025 ends.

I was SOOOO bummed when the Union Station DC spot closed. As a kid who went to NC summers in the early and mid 80s, I fell in love with Bojangles…

They are coming to where I live now (Dallas area) and I can not wait.

I love my Popeyes, but Bo is another level. And those breakfast biscuits and potato rounds????

Yoooo

Me too! I'd see people buying the huge box... but the real one would be Church's/Texas Chicken. I'd travel to L'enfant Plaza for that...

Church's used to be in Edmonson Village Shopping Center. Left sometime in the 90's.

It's far from Baltimore, but there is a cookout in Salisbury! Right by the university. My husband and I always hit it up when we're down towards the beaches.

I am stupidly loyal to Popeyes. My GI tract says, "Hell no!" but when I'm having a bad day, that is my fix. Unfortunately, it means a 100% chance of a bad night.

careje t1_j6vrgq0 wrote

Coming back you mean? When I was a kid there was one in Glen Burnie/Brooklyn Park area.

ratpH1nk t1_j6yfosc wrote

Somewhere in/near Baltimore city too. my parents when there when I was a kid.

Back to Baltimore. I was a little bitty kid when the one off Patapsco Ave went adios.

Conversation between my now wife and myself about 20yrs ago after seeing a Bojangles for the first time on vacation, never having heard of them before:

Me: "Bojangles!? What kind of food do you think they have?"

Future Wife without skipping a beat: "Bojangle-y food"

We both died laughing and still say that to this day whenever we see one

Love Bojangles but only if they actually have fresh chicken.. so many times have gotten cold chicken and cold fries or asked to wait 20 min for them to make it.. few times they didn't even HAVE chicken

The only chicken I'd get excited for is some version of Nashville Hot Chicken, preferably something started by someone local.

Doesn't have to be Princes or Hattie B's. Other people are doing it these days and branching out a little.

I know about Gingers, but I haven't been and as far as I can tell, all they do is tenders and sliders. Not what I'm looking for.

Whenever I visit my family we always stop at Bojangles -- really good Cajun Chicken Filet on a biscuit and I can never resist a Bo-Berry Biscuit chaser. Wouldn't mind having local access.

Honestly, though, since moving here my goto has been Royal Farms chicken -- all the other joints are dead to me.

As someone who grew up in NC my response is, meh.

Bojangles isn't bad, but it's not special either. The only thing they've really have that I remember being better there than most places are their curly fries.

loptopandbingo t1_j6whhcv wrote

Their sides are pretty bangin. For fastfood Mac n Cheese and Dirty Rice, it's not too shabby

WinkyTheFrog t1_j6valup wrote

I’ve wanted to try bojangles, but haven’t had the chance. Agree with you on Roy Rogers though. As far as fast food chicken in the area, that was pretty good. Their burgers were gross, but the chicken I will go back for.
