The fact that you're asking means you're more considerate than most people in the city.

Different neighborhoods have very different schedules. The more residential and night life neighborhoods it's probably best to be in and out between 10 and 4 on a week day. Places like downtown are probably best on the weekend.

In this city it's pretty common for trucks and people to block a lane (sometimes you'll run into 2 or even 3 people doing it on one block). The real asshole thing to do is block an alley, drive way or block someone in who is parallel parked beside you. If you absolutely have to do it make sure there's someone around the vehicle in case that person needs to leave. I can't tell you how many times assholes have parked to block me in and then act like I'm inconveniencing them because I want to leave my drive way.

I'm not disabled but I use an electric unicycle to get around the city so I tend to pay a lot of attention to where their are steps.

For the most part sidewalks have ramps so you can get on and off them. There are occasional ones where they don't though. This mostly happens in residential neighborhoods where someone has built a driveway that cuts through a sidewalk. I would say the larger issue is how shitty our sidewalks are. Many have large bumps in them due to cracks and root growth. They also have a stupid habit of putting street signs in the middle of sidewalks which can make them hard or impossible to use, some are made so narrow by this that they are hard to just walk on.

Luckily if you're in Charles Village proper most of the sidewalks are pretty good. We've actually got some of the widest sidewalks in the city, especially for a more residential neighborhood. The bad sidewalks can mostly be avoided once you know where they are. Even our park can be accessed by ramp.

I've never taken a city bus but the circulators all seem to be wheelchair accessible.

The bad news is the houses are mostly row homes with steps. So you'll want to live in one of the apartment buildings. I have no idea how accessible they are, but I'm sure the newer buildings have to meet ADA standards. So with that in mind you might want to look at Remington Row as it's new construction.

Yeah, I think a lot of Baltimore's crime problem come from lack of police enforcement.

A guy I knew had his OneWheel taken at gun point. He contacted the police but they basically did nothing. One of the girls in our group did a bunch of research, finds the guy selling it on Facebook market place, gets his name and his address, finds the crime camera that would have video of it. They get the footage from the police with this info, it's apparently all recorded.

The guy has warrants for shooting someone. So now they have video taped evidence, a witness, they already knew his address, they even have contact information and a reason to get him to meet up.

They never arrest him.

When my motorcycle was stolen the cop didn't file the police report for like 3 months (which delays insurance payout), and even when he did he never had the vin added to the stolen vehicle registry. So even if someone got caught with the bike they wouldn't know it was stolen.

Police in Baltimore don't do their jobs. And these aren't even the only stories I know about of Baltimore cops just not doing what they're supposed to.

Meetups are what I did. Don't worry if there are a lot of people going, people tend to break into smaller groups to hold conversations.

Don't do the local r4r, it's just people who want to bang. Actually that's why I don't really try to make male friends off reddit any more. Too many "hey, I'm totally straight too, you seem really cool, maybe we can hang out, if the vibe is good we could try sucking each other's dicks to see what that's like" bullshit messages.

If you're a drinker, the city has a ton of social events that involve the bar scene.

As someone who grew up in NC my response is, meh.

Bojangles isn't bad, but it's not special either. The only thing they've really have that I remember being better there than most places are their curly fries.

It's an old man bar in the middle of a young neighborhood.

It's also great. The food is good and it's very reasonably priced. One of their bartenders is a real sweetheart too.

I've taken a couple girls there and they all really like it. Also during most of the year they have oysters on the weekend and they're pretty reasonably priced as well.

Mines projected to be $800+ this month. I don't know that it's really going to be that expensive though. The cold snap is over and I think it was projecting that based on that week's usage which was unusually high.

Also don't know that budget billing really helps. You don't end up paying less. They just charge you what they think you'll average out to have. Then if you're over you'll get a huge bill later. At least that's my understanding. Seems much worse for budgeting to me.

I think space heaters are a really expensive way to heat your house. My bge bill is nearly $500 but my house is 2-3 times your house in sqft. Most of my heating is gas.

Mine isn't an end unit, so that helps keep costs down, not sure where yours is.

I don't believe your service is terminated either. I really only pay my water bill once a year and they've never terminated my service.

Honestly it makes me wonder why I bother to pay it at all.

Yeah. In fact cities/contractors have been caught making yellow lights shorter because it increases ticket revenue. But it also causes more crashes.

You're really just asking for something that allows some company to skim money from people (because the vast majority of the money goes to a contractor and not to the government).

It's worse for people in basically every other way.

While I've never been into drugs, I did hang out with a lot of people who were into the drug scene.

Some of them fell in love and got married. But what I found was true pretty often, is that if one person decided they wanted to get clean, it usually caused a break up. They often found that either drugs were the only thing they had in common or they just actively disliked each other when they weren't high.

I always found it weird that drugs changed your perception of who you liked and how much by such a large margin. But then again I guess I'm much friendlier when I'm drinking, so in a way it does that to me as well.

Also in a relationship I'm sure it's kind of rare for both people to decide they want to get sober at the same time. And I'm sure that makes the getting clean phase of the relationship extra stressful. And a lot of times when one decides to get clean it's the girl and it's because she's pregnant.

In short, maybe don't get married or pregnant during the drug use phase of your life.

I had a tw200 stolen from my parking pad after I lived in the city for a few years (although I sort of suspect it was my neighbor who was moving out and not hood kids, but who knows). My cruiser has sat in the parking pad for years and nobody stole it. I don't think cruisers are of much interest to the people who steal motorcycles in the city.

If you're looking for something cheap you can buy a used cruiser or a cheap new Japanese cruiser. Have insurance on it so if it gets stolen your insurance pays out (might take a while because Baltimore police suck so badly). You can pick up a vstar 250 new for probably around 5k. Or if you want something that's basically like a big scooter look for a used TU250X. These style of bikes aren't what I think most thieves in the city are looking for.
