An iPhone is more simple and has less features than android. So why do people buy Apple? It’s simple and connects with a whole ecosystem of products seamlessly.

Same I was long time android user and moved to iPhone 13 Pro Max you don’t need any app this phone will just work but there are some cons
I feel you that’s why I use both android and iOS 😁
Enjoy the lack of targeted ads
Another option is use Safari with 1Blocker instead of the YouTube app.
Or u can use vinegar no ads on YT (safari)
iPhone app quality is also tops compared to Android counterparts. Pokemon Go is the only exception, I think it actually runs better on Android.
There are no jailbreaks for recent iOS versions.
Android works right out of the box as well and you don’t need any special apps. Have you ever used a new android phone lately?
I also got 13 as my 1st iPhone and these were the only "mods" that I needed and did setup. Rest everything works like android except the native file manager.
Can't do anything about file manager on iPhone.
I wouldn't say android doesn't work out of the box. There's just a lot more you can do after the fact as well
Less features?!
Stop comparing the two operating systems. Accept what is as is and it won’t make you bitter. Trust me I also moved to 14 PM after 12 years on Android. There’s a lot to learn and un-learn 😂
Basically, Apple’s real goal is simplicity which does mean less features BUT android is very case specific. Some android phones have extra features for photographers, other have ridiculous optimization for gaming. Android phones are great all rounders but if you wanna game, shoot photos or edit on a phone then there’s always and android phone that can help you. On the other hand, Apple is very simple and rarely is anything added that doesn’t benefit a huge group of people. Apple has great features but they only have the features that will benefit a large group of people or the general population.
I feel like there are just less features that users have to actively setup etc. but more features that are deeply integrated within the eco-system. So phone vs phone I, but iPhone with AW and other apple devices might offer more features.

I always use Firefox on android. Makes safari look complicated to be honest.
But I like having a full keyboard and hitting the stupid Umm 123 button for everything except letters. No wonder folks can’t write proper sentences anymore.
Accept that you have a keyboard that you hate. Swipe much more accurate on android. And so is the touch interface so far. It’s been 3 or 4 months now. Still not used to it.
Last sentence is what Tim Cook would say haha
Free Appstore apps are laughing on this rn.
I sincerely doubt they have.
Had a 13 Pro Max for around a year now from lots of Android and Windows Phones including the first Android phone and first galaxy S phone,
Compared to android i prefer the battery life and smoothness of iPhone and the build quality and it is nice to use iMessage because some of my family use iPhones and control the Apple Tv. But i miss split screen apps on Android and the back gesture and just being able to do more with it and set any custom ringtones etc.
WP will always be the best mobile os though imo
yeah I tried Xiaomi and that shit is complicated as hell
True but I does keep asking for you to set up both google and Samsung accounts (if you use Samsung device I’m android) I used both iPhone personally and android for work.. hated the interface and backwards way of doing things.. finally got a iPhone for work now soo all good
Your previous life is all in the android ecosystem. Be sure to download the Google apps. Google photos, chrome, etc. Integrate it with the apple ecosystem.
As others have said, don’t try and move habits over to the 14, learn new ones. I too moved to the 14PM after a decade on Android and there were things that absolutely infuriated me at first because I was trying to do stuff as if I was still on Android.
Don’t do that.
I thought it would be interesting to have both but switching back and forth sounds tiring. Another option would be to have an iPhone for personal use and an Android for work or vice versa.
That’s what I do iPhone for personal Android to fuck around
I was thinking of getting a cheap Mint plan and buying a Pixel 7 for fun. But, then again, it might not cost much if I were to add a 4th line on AT&T.
I have 3 lines one for my iPad one for mi IP13M and one for my old android phone One Plus 6T 😅
Haha. I was on the phone once with AT&T and the rep told me I can add a 4th line for pretty cheap. I couldn’t find the use for it but now figure it would be good for another phone. 😂
Lol 4th lines ur the king 👑 haha 😂 go for it my dude!!!
Haha! My parents are on two of the lines.
Well..the more you use it the more "can't do" will pop up. My family comes often to me to do things their iPhone can't 😁and I follow apple subs as former user and to stay updated (to help my family's) 😀
The most annoying thing is with smartwatches...non AW are limited.
You'll hate the file management, the app running in sandboxes and caged in terms of sharing info between them, etc etc..
For the rest..you'll enjoy for sure the very polished software, the polished and appealing Apps (vs android's), best camera performances (in egenral vs high end androids, except Samsung very close to iPhones by now). The perfect harmonisation between software and hardware and the very long support period in terms of updates (even 5 generations older!)
Enjoy it!
Thanks goodness. People don't realize how risky is for personal data jailbreak or cook roms...
Windows Phone...bloody Microsoft they could be the number 1 smartphones maker in the world if only some stupid marketing eng didn't decide to kill it.
When I use (again, as former iPhone user) my wife's iPhone I hate the huge keyboard, the huge space at the bottom, the way it works, the hundreds of iOS limitations including Apps's which android version is like a full-feautered version in comparison. My Garmin Fenix can't reply to messages when connected to iPhone for example...in hate this... But I admit iOS is so fluid and integrated... Android is like many pieces of software...forced to work together (for the good or the bad)
Gboard and Google maps
If you used the file manager a lot on android then the apple file manager will drive you crazy
I learned this the hard way.. the way the file manager works still drives me insane..
Or you can sideload some modified YouTube ipas, I pay 20 usd a year so I can install ipas without limitations I get push notifications because my sideloaded apps have distribution certificates, and I don’t have to resign the apps every 7 days. It’s fairly awesome because I can do it on device without a computer. I use UDID registration.
Actually yes we do, most of what left of the community is hardcore coders/risk takers. Anyways it’s still fairly safe because if something does happen you can just use iTunes to restore your phone 🤷♂️
You can still install apps outside the App Store, I have at least 7 sideloaded apps on my 14 pro. They have distribution certificates and etc so I’m not missing out on any features
And also custom Roms don’t exist for the iOS jailbreak community your thinking of android
Or sideload like I do
In fact I was referring to both worlds "options" 😉
Still both are fairly safe in this day of age
Also you can use Brave
I was a 10+ year Android user. Switched to 13PM about 6 months ago. No regrets.
Those are 3rd parties serving those ads tho, not Apple.
You get blue bubbles
Or u can use vinegar for safari 😉
I've locked my screen soooo many times trying to turn my volume up or down, along with so many other muscle memory functions...
I’ve never heard of it before.
But with brave, you can navigate better, more securely, faster, and without add-ons. It's free.
Take a look on the App Store check for vinegar & baking soda apps they’re good
Let me see them.
I know but I prefer safari your choice mate
Yes, safari is good, but it needs some improvements. What other apps are you using in your IOS16?
Of course it needs improvements but I’m ok with it
[deleted]
Yeah i use altstore
One thing I use daily is the Apple Pay feature. You don’t need to get apples credit card just add your current debit/ credit cards and when you need to pay just double tap the power button and hold the phone up to the reader. Very useful. I didn’t use it for the longest time since I always had my wallet on me and tap to pay wasn’t big at the time but now most stores accept tap to pay and I use is very often.
Nice but I use udid registration my apps get distribution certificates thus I get push notifications entitlements and everything an app from the AppStore would get, plus I can do on device signing, and I never have to resign my apps. They are permanent.
Honestly I always wanted an iPhone since it first came out but it was too expensive for mom to buy me one when I was a teen. I had to stick with those super slow Android phones at Metro PCS. I had something called the Samsung Admire and mom couldn't get me the flagship Galaxy S3 and no iPhone at Metro either.
After getting my first job during sophomore high school, I got the Galaxy S6 Edge after reading it beat Apple in the CPU speed. The removal of the headphone jack for iPhone 7 had me sticking with Samsung for a bit longer until they removed it then switching to LG V30.
I still stuck with Android after 120 hz displays debuted in the lineups. I saw that the same notch that was on iPhone X still on iPhone 13 so I still went with Galaxy S21 Ultra and said to myself that I will switch once they changed the damn front design which they finally did with the 14 Pro.
I finally switched to the 14 Pro Max and am loving the removal of the notch I always hated into this gimmicky but better looking dynamic island pill shape. I immediately noticed how much better my games ran and looked on iOS.
Happy to say I'm with Apple now. Even the watch series destroyed their competition. Only thing I won't get are Airpods because these Bowers & Wilkins PI7 are miles ahead in clarity but they cost alot more and they still don't have the connectivity of the Airpods but I can let that slide for the beautiful sound.
I’d this difficult to set up? Never heard of this tbh i’d love not to have to resign my apps every 7 days
Nope, I messaged you, we can talk there it would just be easier to do it there
Or pay for YouTube Premium
I switched recently and so far no problems and got used to it quickly, most disappoint thing is a lack of a custom Equalizer.
What’s next? Well…. AirPods ,AirPods Max, Apple Watch, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, iMac , Mac Pro.
Your welcome 🤗
Lmao! Nop!
now u can flex about it lol
Which ones?
Would you say these are working great? Would I need them?
Yes, for everything that apple makes, we need to pay to improve it, lol. It's ridiculous.
Using Apollo as I type!
Isn’t that just like most OS? XYZ gives you something right out of the box, there’s an app that does it better then you have the option of buying it.
Enmity for discord, and other life improvement apps
Yeah after all the years of android it’s hard but honestly bud you don’t need much in the way of apps and stuff. The only thing that kinda gets me is lack of customisation.
Best solution is to return it and get a Samsung or Pixel 7! Apple is too locked to have fun! You're limited to Apple's idea of usage and not your own!
That’s funny because my last android phone was a Galaxy S8 and that phone was one of the last Galaxies with the volume buttons on the left side and after that phone I switched to apple and I continued getting used to the volume buttons on the left side
Well whenever I try to use my dads S22 ultra (and his previous A71 5G) or my grandmas S20 FE, it feels so odd seeing the volume buttons on the right side next to the power button and I keep accidentally turning off the screen whenever I try to lower the volume because I keep forgetting the volume buttons are under the power button and not on the left side of the phone
I get it. The thing that bugs me is how to go back in an app like the swipe from left gesture. It only works in some of the apps and you’ll have to eventually remember how to go back in each app differently.
The thing that drives me crazy about Apple is that I can’ mute all notifications sounds easily, I have to go to each app and disable the sound one by one, so fucking STUPID
From another long time Android user: Embrace the change!
There are some things that will drive you insane. For me, the terrible keyboard, subpar notifications and lack of a consistent method of going back continue to bug the heck out of me.
That being said, once I embraced the “Apple Way”, things are probably 95% positive. Battery life is amazing compared to my old Galaxies (think the difference between arriving home from work with 40-50% battery left on my iPhone when my Galaxy might crawl across the finish line with 10-20%), the software overall is more stable and less buggy (with the caveat being that iOS 16 on my 13 Pro is unusually buggy compared to 15.4-15.7), I looooove Apple Pay and the switch to toggle silent mode is super handy. Plus you can take great comfort in knowing that even though you’re probably spending more money for a comparably spec’ed phone, you’ll be able to use it for upwards of 5 years if you take care of it, (plus resell it for a decent price) making it a smarter tech investment than any Android.
Get use to the keyboard. And I hope you will like the notification system.
You have 2 options for that. The side button or the focus modes
Yeah, but how many screenshots have you taken without even trying? I'm a long time android user (2009) on my second day with an iPhone. I think I'm finally learning how not to do that. I'm down to just a few today.
I'll be happy if they ever allow you to place a widget where you want, like center of screen and letting you resize them would be nice too.
Ya I wish I could put em anywhere that’s definitely rough I’ve turned into a folder guy everyday stuff on Main page and the next is just folders it’s not ideal but it’ll have to do
Care to explain more? Sorry if I missed it.
Thanks in advance.
The official site can explain more, it’s just a lot to talk about 😅
> UDID registration
Oh, I didn't realize this was a site. I thought it i.e. UDID was a method to register your device while using something else. Ha ha.
So true file manager is garbage compared to android. I don't even use file manager anymore it's useless
Or you can find an Indian VPN and get youtube for 2 dollars a month
Welcome to Apple Jail!! Haha
I tried that the other way round when I was given a Samsung for work a few years back, didn’t work.
It was hard to learn a new way of doing things when I still had my personal iPhone so I ended up nagging them to give me an iPhone instead and they gave in eventually.
4 years for me, still hate the Apple keyboard and mistype a lot. Tested a Pixel 7 Pro last week, keyboard felt like home instantly. Stock Android is shit though
That too. It then you can’t have the benefits of midwifed apps like enmity for discord which is basically better discord on iOS, and etc
what’s wrong with the reddit app?
ads, ads everywhere
Yeah I’m seriously thinking of getting a repair kit for my S9 and putting a new battery in it. The only reason I switched was to see how secure iPhones are compared to android. Not much difference I think. Just less info is sold on paper I think.
No idea about that tbh as I am not too concerned about privacy. I just wanted to give the Android ecosystem a fresh try before locking myself into an iPhone again but iPhone still is better for me. I really liked the feel of the Pixel 7 Pro though but there were noumerous other issues. I‘ll just live with the few issues on iPhones
Yeah I should probably pay my phone off first before taking the plunge. One thing I do like about the iPhone is the carriers and manufacturers don’t put all their crap on the iPhones like they do with android.
As someone that plays Pokemon Go and currently has an iPhone but is contemplating hopping back over into Android land, what about it makes you feel it runs better on Android?
And out of curiosity, other than camera specific things (shutter lag in app, worse camera quality when shooting through social media apps directly), why do you feel other apps work better on iOS?
Been bouncing back and forth on my upgrade decision for weeks so insights from others are certainly helpful!
>how to sideload apps pls
Can you give an example of what you tried doing, that was possible/easier on Android, than on iOS?
I am also thinking of switching to iOS, have my doubts thou...
One of the big ones I found is customization on the home screen.
Sure, one CAN add items to the Home Screen and organize them in folders but it's a tedious process and you can't sort them alphabetically unless you add them in that order (or maybe you can and I just haven't found a way).
Another example is App Settings. For the majority of apps on iOS, the settings are..well in the settings menu. Seems simple and it is but after years of Android, I'm used to always accessing settings for a specific app through that app itself.
Accessing open apps is different, on the N20U it was a simple button press, on the 14PM it's swiping up about halfway from the bottom of the screen to see your open apps.
I've also heard it's better to not force close your apps when you're done as iOS will handle the management in the background and close when needed, that it actually hurts your performance closing and re-opening them. I can't say how true that is but I've seen it mentioned a few times on here.
Those are just a few of the things I've noticed that requires some adjustment. Here's the thing, if you're still on the fence, go to the Apple store and buy a device. You have a 14 day Return Period (at least you do in Canada, I'm assuming it's the same elsewhere but double check at your own discretion) and just switch your daily driver to the Iphone and give it a test run.
My thought/feeling process basically went like the following when I did make the switch.
Day 1/2: I hate this thing, why did I do it. I'm just going to return it.
Day 3-5: Alright, I'm slowly getting the hang of it.
Day 6-10: I begrudgingly like this thing.
Day 11-14: Nah fuck it, I'm keeping this. I can live with the differences.
Just ordered the iphone 14! Lets see how it works out after more than 10 years of android
No-Magician-9467 t1_isje3d5 wrote
nothing, it just works out of the box, you don't need any special apps or whatever like on Android
