Following the execution of a number of federal warrants Tuesday, 23 people are charged with trafficking counterfeit prescription pills in connection with a North Shore-based drug trafficking organization.

Authorities also seized more than 74,000 fake Adderall pills containing methamphetamine and more than 1,000 oxycodone pills containing fentanyl, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

The investigation into this drug trafficking organization has been in the works since 2018, when authorities identified brothers Lawrence Michael Nagle and Christopher Nagle as leaders of the organization.

The Nagle drug trafficking organization allegedly distributed large quantities of various controlled substances including Adderall, Xanax, and oxycodone.

This is why rules limiting the production of various prescription substances are stupid.

Do you know what happens when you prescribe somebody their meds and they can't get them? They consider secondary markets. The Rule of Substitution is one of the first economic principles.

I know at least three people who can't fill their prescriptions but "know a guy". I really hope none of it has anything to do with this.

I read it but they don't get any more specific than North Shore (unless I missed it). Any more specific info on where they're based? I mean I get that the distribution is "everywhere" but am curious.

Yep, and each and every one of those pills is a potential danger that a legitimate prescription is not likely to be. Someone resorting to those channels could get anything from a properly functioning medication to one that is too potent, not potent enough, straight up missing the active ingredient, or laced (intentionally or not) with some other dangerous substance.

There will be another 74,000 pills shipped to replace these ones in the next week, this is futile. The war on drugs is a sisyphean task.
