They should work on improving their crappy app first. It's slow and half the time the digital coupons don't work. I do like that several locations have free EV charging.

I really want to like stop and shop but if I could just go to the self checkout without getting screamed at every time I place something after scanning that would be great

Scan. Place the item in the bagging area. Pay. THEN BAG.

It’s a pain to delay people the extra 20 seconds after you’re finished with the transaction - except when you consider you’ll never trigger that error again & can still easily be faster than the person who started self checkout right before you if you try.

I buy blueberries and blackberries from Stop & Shop all the time, and more often than not, I am able to spot a few moldy fruits buried at the bottom of the plastic container. This is why I always inspect the containers from all angles. If there is visual evidence of mold, then I will avoid all adjacent containers or that type of fruit altogether. In a way, their inconsistent quality has pushed me to explore new types of fruits I wouldn’t have otherwise tried.

One time, a bag of almonds (Stop & Shop brand) I bought had evidence of some type of bug infestation. The almonds had unusual holes (as if something bored into it). Cracking it open, I found fluffy, cobweb-like substances inside. Threw out the entire bag, and now I will only buy their almonds if they are stored in see-through containers, so I can do a careful inspection before purchasing.

I also stopped buying their store-brand chicken. Had to throw out an entire tray of chicken breast one time because it was rancid. For a poor student, discarding an entire tray of chicken breast is a huge blow to not only my wallet but also to my nutrition and overall morale that week.

Here’s the deal with self checkout @ SS

If you have a cart - this is not meant for you

Scan, then place all items on the unit BEFORE bagging - There’s a rhythm Scan then Place - Absolutely don’t bag before all items are in said unit.

It’s not that hard, they should give better [any] directions.

This would have pissed me off enough to go back and return it.

Yeah like their deliciously rinsed and repackaged shrimp rings I saw in Salem Ma yesterday *puke* I also like how they resell food that has sat out hot for who knows how long at the same price the next day.

$7.99 hot and fresh and $7.99 the next day cold in a box after sitting out for hours?

A little bird told me that Stop & Shop threatened to take their corporate offices out of the City of Quincy if they allowed a Market Basket to be built .
