>However, it’s important to note that due to the state’s lack of sales tax, a number of these gallons are consumed by folks from neighboring states who cross over into New Hampshire to take advantage of cheaper prices.

People smuggle alcohol from here to resell down in NY, NJ, maybe even further. The tax difference is so much that it's still profitable.

I guess it's not against our laws to sell it to them but it's against their laws to bring back large amounts without paying their states tax.

This is based on sales, not actual consumption. Our state liquor stores do a great job of marketing to the surrounding states.

I mean, hell man, we've even got state liquor stores at interstate highway rest areas. And there seems to be a liquor store within 5 miles of every border crossing on every highway that enters from another state.

Don't forget Canadians buy a ton and bring it home too. Restaurants from neighboring states buy their liquor in NH as well.

Having done a lot of "content writing" for money, I've developed a nose for hastily thrown-together articles by underpaid hacks. This is one. Grab a bunch of statistics without understanding them. Use words sloppily; what does "consumption of alcoholic beverages has been on a steady incline since 1995" even mean?

It wouldn't surprise me if this article was bought on Fiverr.

Imagine how much revenue would be added if the people got what they wanted and allowed cannabis sales in the liquor stores.

We put state liquor stores on the borders with neighboring states and along or on the highways. We also have low cigarette taxes and I'm sure that they're sold to lots of out-of-state folks.

Have you ever been to Berlin Gorham. I’m friends with the local Budweiser sales guy. We are number one☝️ in New England per capita in beer🍺consumption. We deserve some recognition up here for contributing to that noble distinction.

Gotta love the excitement on this…. Booze is fun and all but as you get older you see more and more people killing themselves physically and emotionally with alcohol.
