Anyone see this article? How can you not love the guy? He cracks me up.

https://www.businessinsider.com/sununu-rejected-new-hampshire-republican-senate-campaign-2022-10

"The US Senate is the B team, compared to governors. Can you honestly tell me if we got rid of every US senator and replaced them with 100 randomly chosen, employed American adults that it would get worse?" he told the publication.

If we replaced Sununu with a random NH worker, could you honestly tell me it'd be worse?

Having worked with random people of the public and seen them often at high stress times, I can safely say that Iā€™m glad this isnā€™t how we do government.

I hate him because heā€™s a rich prick with nothing of actual fucking value to say and has the audacity to go after working class Americans who are finally getting a benefit of student loan forgiveness. On top of that heā€™s too much of a fucking dickhead to just say heā€™ll support legalizing weed when itā€™s on the federal level so he can ruin it by only allowing it to be sold in state stores like we do with liquor because fuck you.

Thereā€™s a lot of reasons to have this shitbag and I stand by every single one.

If he wore blue, Iā€™d bet youā€™d love him.

Nope. Heā€™d still be a fucking dickhead in a different color.

He says what he thinks you want to hear, just like every successful politician.

gravitybongresin t1_iqtbh44 wrote

It would probably be better actually. The people that make it to the Senate now have been scheming and backstabbing their way into that position their whole lives

I think he sounds more like an arrogant trash bag. That said, itā€™s probably only because heā€™s an arrogant trash bag.

There are interview with Sununu and Sherman on WMUR today and they run about ten minutes each.

Sununu was asked if he was going to run for President and he said it would be too boring.

My main takeaway between Sununu and Sherman is that they're not that far apart.

Not sure that helps Sherman's chances on election day?

Biggest differences are in pot (Sununu is still against it, but not as adamantly as he once was) and gun control (Sherman claims not to want bans, but would have signed all those bills Sununu vetoed).

Based on current polling, the race is Sununu's to lose.

movdqa t1_iqthrne wrote

What I got from the interview was that Sununu is saying yes, we will make it legal, just not now. The reason for that is distracted driving. We have had more crashes and deaths on the road this year than I can recall so maybe he has a point there.

Sununu could be worse. He could be one of these railing morons like Abbot or Deathsantos He is not bad. He never was onboard with Trumpism never pandered to the magas with all the BS

puckhead11 t1_iqx61ia wrote

Well, he is somewhat correct. The only real thing the Senate is capable of that impacts everyday Americans is seat judges. We see how that is going. The "Conservative" leaning court now likes to take privacy rights away from people. Starting today it is going to get even more activist. The SCOTUS session started today.

Well, we can make it productive by taking all the bullshit political posts over there.

Because governors actually have to, you know, govern.

Not to say that Senators aren't important but they are legislators and not in the business of managing government agencies. They can impact it based on how they legislate but the impact isn't usually as immediate.

and, it's even worse in the US House of Representatives.

He could just level a state like Malloy did to CT. He could not be more out of touch and crooked. Blue state booing it's blue governor at just about every public appearance.

Funny you feel you can speak for an entire state. I would hope most of us don't "love" our politicians and are more interested in holding them accountable as public servants than we are in blindly worshipping them.

Simulator321 t1_iqu2sul wrote

Thank you, I am funny. And heā€™s never lost an election in NH and has won every one heā€™s ever been in by double digits so itā€™s not me saying heā€™s ā€œlovedā€ itā€™s the electorate and the results. Are you an election denier?

pahnzoh t1_iqu365r wrote

People here seem to like the Democrats and not want to hold them accountable.

billysgibbons t1_iqu1r6r wrote

I don't like him because republican policies are bad for New Hampshire.

10

PurpleEuphrates t1_iqu72ze wrote

Could you expand on that? I think he's been a fairly reasonable Governor even if I have my disagreements with him.

8

billysgibbons t1_iqu7mhc wrote

You can Google his positions yourself, I'm not your librarian or search engine.

−7

PurpleEuphrates t1_iquay69 wrote

Well, I was trying to inquire about what you think are Sunun's bad republican policies.

Maybe you're referring to abortion, limited gun control, expansion of charter schools, a reduction in business taxes, or campaigning against public transportation. Maybe you're just referring to his vetoes of legal weed. I can't really know without you expanding on your comment.

This is a frustration I have with a lot of posts on the internet. Someone will make a statement, but not back it up at all with any evidence or context, and then they'll pretend like anyone arguing with them, or asking follow-up questions are idiots. What's the point of a discussion board if there is no discussion? It's like trying to have a conversation by yelling out the car window and driving away.

billysgibbons t1_iqubyii wrote

Youre asking me to explain a complex issue in a public forum where I cannot infer as to whether your question was in good faith, by typing with my thumbs. Forgive me for my terse response, though you nailed it on every issue you listed.

Patient_Total7675 t1_iqtnioo wrote

That statement seems realistic, however I think he's a rhino. He's done some things I agree with, hasn't done things he should have, caved to the lunatic dems during the " pandemic" I'd rather a real conservative as our governor, but he may be the only thing standing in the way of complete Massachusetts-like radicalism in this state. So I am in the end, grateful for him.

−56

TheMobyDicks t1_iqvjt4j wrote

I think Sununu has done a terrific job, but putting pandemic in quotes shows me he's not worried about your support. And, btw, NH is moderate (thank bejeebuz) and will always support middle of the road candidates. Opponents can tag Hassan as uber liberal and Sununu as far right but they are much more centered. Thus, their political success in NH.
