lol like, what ? I guess instead of playing on DraftKings at the old man bar, you can go do it here in the lap of SpOrtS LuXurY.

I like that bookies are no longer an oppressed minority

From an earlier article about it on same site:

>>Martino noticed there was a huge opportunity in the sports bar industry for a modern luxury experience. Bankroll aims to combine hanging out with friends in a high-end sports bar and betting on your phone.

>>Will there be sports betting kiosks? No

>>Does it have a gaming license? It does not require one. Since it is not a casino or an OTB.

Am I like missing something here ?

If you are, we all are. It sounds like it’s going to be a large, higher end sports bar. Which there’s probably going to be a clientele for?

I don’t get why they’re not leading with and focusing on that instead of promoting themselves as a place where you can do something that you can literally do in any bar in the city.

Ohh a signnnnn, well, shit, that does sound like a sports betting bar. What will that sign say ? “GO BE A DEGENERATE ON YOUR PHONE!” A luxury sign, of course. Also, the last thing I need is encouragement to gamble. In fact, I need the opposite. Where’s that bar ?

The very last fucking thing Philly needs is more sports gambling.

  1. Serve food

  2. Serve drinks

  3. Have Wi-Fi

  4. "Allow" sports betting

Sir, this is an Appelbee's.

I agree, I think sports betting is fine to do at some place that allows you to bet in some location. Mobile sports betting are stupid dangerous and those sports betting apps lobbied hard to keep it on the phone

I've been doing sports betting in literally every bar I've been at in the past couple of years, how in fuck is this different, given it's not a casino?

Also - fuck sports betting in particular and gambling in general. One industry I vowed never to set my foot into (and I've seen quite a few software engineers in my LinkedIn network go there from the likes of Twitter and some other Fortune 50 companies).

(I win on the regular, but I also play with coffee money; I've seen people's livelihoods destroyed with easy online betting).

So we’re advertising for gambling on this sub now?

They aren’t bookies. It’s a casino that you’re placing your bets at ( not the bar itself, they are encouraging you to place bets at a casino) Contrary to what you might believe, there is a difference.

CRolandson t1_j90165p wrote

Sounds like a place where you can meet actual bookies who will lend you money when you’re in the hole and “ you get the opportunity” to have your legs broken if you’re late on your interest payments.

Tell me you want to be a place where degenerate gamblers hang out without saying you want it to be a place where degenerate gamblers hang out.

CRolandson t1_j905ag6 wrote

Seriously, they have slot machines in every bar and most beer distributors. You can gamble online on your phone… there are turf clubs… there is no legitimate need for anything like this

All I see is an opportunity for degenerate gamblers and suckers to be taken advantage of
