Hoping for some recommendations. I am traveling with a larger group (11) of friends who visit different MLB stadiums. Never been to Pittsburgh and was curious what are the best bar districts in the city. This does not need to be near or next to the stadium. just looking for recommendations. Thanks in advance.

Maybe an area in between the strip district and Lawrenceville since you guys are a bit older. If you want to get blacked out on a sticky bar floor at 2 am, go to the southside.

imagine 25 being "a bit older". the legal drinking age is 21. we die ~in our 70s. lol

You prob want strip district or lower lawrencville. Next to the stadiums is some decent stuff too. All depends on your specific scene that you prefer.

We’re all comfortably slotted into our local dive bar by 25-30.

Near the stadium, the North shore is pretty decent for groups. A short walk away is the northside which has tons of smaller places that you can easily hop to.

Downtown isn't too bad either to hop for a group and it's an easy walk across the bridge to the stadium.

If you want a crazy atmosphere; the Southside is the place to be on Friday/Saturday night.

If you want the upscale area, Shadyside is your best bet to uber to.

well, you're already in the northside when you're in north shore, so "a short walk away" might be an understatement

Different neighborhoods.

We have a "South Shore" just like Boston!

not quite. the north side is the area north of the allegheny river (what historically made up allegheny city) and isn't a proper neighborhood in itself so much as it is a collection of city neighborhoods. north shore is one of those neighborhoods. you can kind of get away with calling some of the other areas along the northern side of the river "north shore" if you're not talking strict neighborhood boundaries, but they're all part of the north side.

so you're always in the northside if you're in north shore, but you're not always in north shore if you're in the north side.

I'd expect someone with your username to understand the difference between "Central Northside (Neighborhood)" and North Side or Northside as a collection of neighborhoods north of the Allegheny.

Have dinner at Federal Galley. It's great for large groups and contains four different restaurants. It's in the North Side so head to any of the other bars recommended by others afterwards.

Monterey Pub is a 15-20 min walk from the stadium. And Western Avenue on the North Side has several nice eateries and spots.
