Maybe an area in between the strip district and Lawrenceville since you guys are a bit older. If you want to get blacked out on a sticky bar floor at 2 am, go to the southside.

Save some cash and buy some minis today. Put them in your carry on and grab a mixer after going through security from the cvs. Find a quiet corner and pour up.

Idk if this is a good idea just to avoid some headaches before and after your care. Ive worked across both networks and the big hospitals get all the patients the hospitals you mentioned cant handle or messed up. If you are going to end up needing a procedure i recommend going to a larger hospital.

I hope you dont find yourself in a similar situation in the future but if you do most facilities allow patients and families to essentially call a "code" on a situation they are unhappy with. Its usually "condition help" or "condition stop" and you can start this process by calling the operator. Im sorry this happened to you. Most policies are in place soley to protect the hospitals from legal action and in most cases this supercedes emotionally charged situations like yours which is a shame.

The facade upmc puts up is amazing, when in reality behind the scenes the hospitals are just barely getting through the day.

Outside of "traditional" work hours traffic on 376 before the tunnel can still be terrible. There is truly no rhyme or reason for backups it seems. I will say if you had zero traffic it takes maybe 10-15 at highway speeds to get from monroeville to downtown. Im assuming you are a foodie if you are a chef. Dining options are terrible in the monroeville area. I agree that monroeville would be pretty miserable. We live right off the churchill exit and we still drive into town if we are looking to go out for dinner or drinks as a couple in our twenties.
