This has been my question for the past decade. I remember going to the strip district in the 90s and seeing fat boy slim in some warehouse. It's what started my love for EDM. There used to be places playing music all the time then. What happened?

Looks like The Roxian theater is trying to get into it. SUBTRONICS and Must Die! are playing there February 22nd. Not into dubstep much, but Im definitely going just to support EDM around here. Unfortunately its nearly nonexistent. Tilden has after hours edm. EDM Train app will list acts coming.

Jellyfish plays a lot of house music at different venues each month. Hot Mass is probably the closest thing you’re looking for. I would also check to see events happening at Spirit. Pre-pandemic there used to be different pop-up music scenes in the city at random warehouses but I’m unsure if that’s still a thing.

There used to be raves at the Irish Center and The Braddocks Elks lodge but that was about a decade ago. Really not sure what's going on now.

Here's some events listed on eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.com/d/pa--pittsburgh/edm-party/

Edit: there's a PittsburghEdm Instagram page I found that looks active.

Sure but when people are explicitly seeking EDM they’re looking for the music of EDC, Ultra, and like Electric Zoo. That kind of music does not get play at HM, it’s much more centered on specific sounds of techno and house.

Right, Pittsburgh actually does have somewhat of a decent EDM scene but it's mostly dubstep or super housey (the boring, really repetitive kind imo). Not really my cup of tea. Not a whole lot of dance, electronic, electro or progressive house which is what I dig.

Longturn is the closest thing I've heard that broadens the spectrum a bit. Was really digging MAD Bar when it was open but it wasn't for very long :(
